Not sure if there are many boxing fans here, but what are your thoughts on this fight? To be honest I think it'll prove why Mayweather is the best fighter around. Obviously it could go either way, but Mayweather is so much more technical than Hatton, and while it may not look good, he should absolutely out box Ricky in 12.

That being said, Hatton is a wild man, and he's certainly got the determination to come out there and win this. He can throw some reckless punches at times, and lord knows what could happen if he lands one (although Mayweather has only been knocked down once in his career, and never knocked out).

Whatever the case, It should be a great match. Both of them truly believe they are the better fighter and should win this. I don't really like either fighter (I mean, one is a manc and the other is a conceited asshole), but for my money, it's "Money" May in 12.

I like Hatton, but Mayweather will probably beat the snot out of him. Mayweather is among the best fighters of all time w/ talent + commitment to the sport.

Not a fan of Hatton - he pretty much throws a few bunches then comes in and bearhugs his opponent for 30 seconds. The dude isn't really a boxer.

Mayweather is an absolute prick, but he practices the sweet science with the best of 'em. I'd like to think it'll be an entertaining fight and that Hatton can hang, just due to sheer grit and determination, but I think Mayweather fights his fight and wins easily. I don't think he'll knock him out, but I think he outclasses him as Hatton swings for the fences.

I saw Hatton vs Castillo and Ricky has a helluva body shot - if he can get in close he could slow down Mayweather. Pretty boy (why does he call himself that?), on the other hand, is great at everything - and boy, is he fast...
I did not see Hatton's fight vs Tszyu but it is impressive when you beat a tough SOB like that into submission.
Should be a great fight.

Not a huge boxing fan, but I catch a fight here and there at Buffalo Wild Wings.

I have the same thought as you about Hatton. Mayweather is one of those guys you want to just punch in the face. But in the case of Mayweather if I tried to punch him in the face he would probably kill me.

It's a classic matchup. I see Mayweather winning a unanimous decision. Hatton may get some shots in, but Mayweather can hit, too, and taking chances against a fighter of Mayweather's caliber rarely pays off.

Hatton supports Manchester City. This should not endear him to Red's fans.

Mayweather has probably heard of English football, but I would be surprised if he has much interest. He's pretty one dimensional.

Actually their was a conference in Manchester a bit ago where Mayweather came out wearing a Manure shirt if I recall. Obviously he is no supporter, but he sure does like to cause trouble. I'll try and find a video.

I just saw a few youtube clips on both fighters and the more I see the more I favor Mayweather - it seems he has it all to be pound for pound best. He's awfully annoying though :D

One of the benefits of having an eight-week old baby in the house is that I'll most probably be up at 3 am tomorrow morning anyway, so I'll probably get the box office subscription for this one. Although I think it will be quite a boring fight. Hatton will try to get close and kill him with body combinations, Mayweather will bunker down like normally does and try to use the size of the ring to wear Hatton out. The first round, as ever, will be telling.

Hatton is the underdog, but if he gets some shots off early on, then I think Mayweather could struggle. And, of course, Mayweather's hands have a history of bruising and spraining, so any hits he does get in on Hatton early could be a curse as much as a blessing, as this fight is highly likely to go the distance and he's not going to fancy slugging it out for 12 rounds if his mitts go down early on.

Purely because you've just got to rate a proper, proper lad like Hatton, I'll let my heart say that he wins it on points.

good analysis. but i just cannot see Mayweather losing a decision in Vegas. if the fight were in England, maybe, not that the crowd will be pro-Mayweather -- it probably will be split -- but American fighters do well on American soil.

usually, i like a boxer over a brawler. championship fights are more often won by TKO or decision than by KO. Mayweather will out-point anyone, as his fight with Delahoya testifies.

btw, check out the photos:

Everywhere I have looked has De la Hoya listed at 5' 10'' or 5' 11'' and Mayweather is listed at 5' 8'' or 5' 8 3/4''.

but the question was whether Delahoya is 6 inches taller than Hatton.

maybe 5", then.

Well it was more or less what most thought it would be. Hatton came out swinging, and landed a couple of half solid shots in the first 2 rounds. But honestly, Floyd will go down as a legend. He combines everything you could want in a fighter, he's quick, knows how to protect himself and picks his spots amazingly. Almost every one of his big shots were clean and accurate, something Hatton couldn't produce almost all fight.

The Hatton supporters were great, and you could tell a lot of those rich snobs ringside have never experienced anything like that. Great fight in the end, but Mayweather was just too much for Ricky. To be honest, I can't see anyone even near his weight class beating him.

Mayweather is a machine. One of the best of all-time.

Was a great fight. Mayweather studied Hatton and his strategy paid dividends. If Hatton learned something out of this ......it would make for a great rematch. :)

It's really kind of funny, b.c for all the showboating and "acting" you see out of the Roger Mayweather, Floyd Mayweather camp, we find that appearance can be deceiving.

They know their stuff. I was never a big fan of Floyd, but grudgingly I've come to respect him.

From here, it's only Miguel Cotto or maybe, maybe Joe Calzaghe [but I couldn't see the latter].

Calzaghe is too big - he's three weight classes over - unless they meet in the middle and Calzaghe loses 15 lbs and Floyd gains weight like vs De la Hoya - now, that would be a fight...I became a Calzaghe fan after his fight with Lacy.
He's also clinical with his punches and very smart + he is desperate to be pound for pound best. Would be very, very risky for Floyd IMO but would be able to get that crazy British crowd once again and PPV subscriptions.
But Calzaghe is too big...

Floyd would have to go up another 13lbs to 160 and Joe would have to come down from 168lbs.

I don't think that Floyd could operate at such a high weight. 160 just seems too far beyond his reach. He didn't even get all the weight up for his fight with De la Hoya.
