I think:
Croatia, Netherlands and Turkey

Croatia, Turkey, or Poland.
I voted for Turkey but the other two are great. The Poland fans were even singing when the US national team came! I was very impressed.

ye my friend was there and he says how the croatian fans were singing all game and how they were much louder then the brazil fans..for years croatians all over the world had no country to support when it was yugoslavia..because of brutal war croatia had to go through to gain there independnece i think is the main reason for the great support they have from there fans..i know for me personally when i saw the croatian national team first play in 1994 against spain the tears were flowing..ever since then i have hardly missed a game..i know when i hear the national anthem i think about what my country had to go through to gain its independence..
I always wondered how people from countries that gained their independence felt about the national team before the independence.
Did Croats and Macedonians root for Yugoslavia?
Did non-Russians root for the USSR?
Do Catalans root for Spain?

Those who felt Yugoslav did, those who felt Croatian/Slovenian... didn't. I wouldn't go into estimating the percentages and also it changed through time I guess. In 1990 Yugoslavia played a friendly vs Holland in Zagreb just before the World Cup and the stadium booed the Yugoslav national anthem and rooted for the Dutch.

No one can beat the reception that the thousands of portuguese immigrants gave to their nt in Switzerland, NO ONE!

I think the croatians are the most passionate ones and will be really impressive.
As for the Dutch, I think they rather resemble a carnival association travelling all in orange, having a reportoire of two songs (I think you all know which two these are) than what I would call a football fan mob. Their motto is: We only sing when we're winning (That's what I would call disoyal)
But do not underestimate us - ze Germans
I think we'll be showing a good performance, and I will contribute all I can for the Poland, Austria and possible quarter final in Vienna.

C'mon, your guys had a pretty modest support 2006 in Germany compared to other countries (i.e. the Dutch were a lot more in Nuremberg when you played the 1/8 final).
And this despite the fact that there's lots of Portuguese living in Western Europe...

I'd be very quiet as a German saying such things...

Do u know who has very little support despite their large population and success? Italy. They never seem too travel all that well. I was in Hamburg for Czech vs Italy and there were more czechs than italians! Every tournament i watch they do not have alot of support. its strange how smaller and poorer countries manage to have better supporters than one of the worlds powerhouses.

So you're judging Italy's support based on one experience you've had?

i couldn't help think back to euro 2004 when there was more english fans in the stadium in the portugal v england match. that should never happen in your own country if there such good supporters. brazils supporters went crazy before wc 2006 i remember there training sessions had like 10,000 people there i think.

Maybe but I think that case something happened as the english were smarter and more persistent...also don't wait like the last minute to buy tickets as many portuguese do. :p English will always occupy at least half of each stadium if the tournament is being held in Europe...so I don't see what's the big deal with it.
But as for training sessions and etc...you sure don't know the portuguese too well.
But again, the reception in Switzerland was fantastic and is something not to overlook at.

Italy certainly has the lamest support. The reason is obvious, their ultra fans don't care about the NT and what Italy has in the stands are tourists. And that's not the sole example. Smaller peoples have a stronger need for international affirmation of their respective countries, hence the bigger support.

That's exactly the situation in Holland as well. The Dutch ultras look down on travelling Holland fans. Which I don't necessarily agree with but that another discussion.

I'd be very quiet as a German saying such things...
For home matches this might be true, but definately not for away matches.
There's like 6-8 songs that are regularly being sung, which is not the most I have to admit. But still better than the dutch and there's also lots of passionate club fans travelling with the national team in Germany aswell.

The Dutch still sing a 60-year old supporters song. Who can beat that for traditional values!

The english fans always occupy atleast half the stadium and buy tickets for matches that england have not even qualified for yet i think that shows more commitment to a team then just shwoing up at a training session personally.
yeah it was a great reception for the portugal team but you envisaged it as unlike any other team whereas i don't believe that is true at all.
