I thought it might be good to open up a "best of..." thread for the Apertura as a whole. Maybe people can post their player of the tournament, best xi, hottest prospect, etc.
I'll start it off with my player of the tournament--Jose Sand. I know that Valeri is the bigger talent and you can make a case for Pelletieri as being a star of the future but nobody was bigger this season than Jose Sand. 15 goals in 16 games speaks for itself. For a team that is known as a team full of kids, Sand scored some clutch goals down the stretch including two vs. Gimnasia and the vital goal vs. Boca.

I'd agree with this line up. As for the right side of the defense, I'd put Ferrari there. He had a pretty solid tournament.

I agree with most of the players listed above, yet it became evident that today, Belluschi's best position is on the left of midfield ... unfortunately, Valeri was outstanding and my player of the tournament. In any event, Augusto Fernandez is the undisputable owner of the right side of midfield at River, and their best player this tournament ... by far.
San Martin had excellent Sudamericana games, but was not as bright in the Apertura. Roman Martinez had a solid tounament and demonstrated his class by being Tigre's most important player along Lazzaro.
Morel had a decent tournament, but I think that Velasquez was solid thru out and highly probable NT member in the near future.
Riboneto was key to hold the Lanus defense ... I'm not sold with Paletta's role this semester, had good and below average games.
Lastly ... Ibarra was Boca's most solid player along Caranta. Class, experience and pride.
Caranta(B)
Ibarra(B) - Riboneto(L) - Matheu(I) - Velasquez(L)
A. Fernandez(R) - Pelletieri(L) - Roman Martinez(T) - Valeri(L)
Sand(L) - Denis(I)

I think Paletta deserves to be there. His biggest slip imo came in the Sudamericana. Despite the disaster at the end Boca was still the team with the fewest goals conceded in the tournament. That definitely counts for something.
