Oh, so Freddy's about 25 years old then?

BTW, New Jack is a pro wrestler who specializes
in bloody matches back in the old days of ECW

info, I shall crawl into a hole and die)

The ESPN Baseball Tonight guys also made a point of picking on Harold Reynolds. Sounds like HR is trying to make a name for himself at the expense of others (and himself). Apparently, after a nice catch by the Midwest Center Fielder, Harold was declaring that had to be one of the day's "Web Gems", a set of highlights from the day's action.

just for the record, the kid's catch was shown during the web gem portion of Baseball Tonight.

Trying to picture a sumo wrestler "climbing the ladder" ... ... now I'm trying not to picture it ...

How is this making a name for oneself? HR is trying to get the LLWS some TV time on web gems, no more no less. Maybe I took offense because he's one of my favorite baseball commentators, but I don't see him as a self promoter.

My point was that I see "Baseball Tonight" as a Major Leagues wrap up show since it starts toward the end of Spring Training and runs through the World Series, rather than to be a "State of the Game" thing. How often are the Minor Leagues covered? Not very often, I believe. In this vein, he's trying to get himself noticed across the boundaries. I will grant you the fact that the LLWS is an annual, big-time event, and therefore may deserve to be included in a Daily program. I was going with my initial reaction.

YMMV

Fair enough.

You don't see the minors covered at all. It's bascially a more in-depth baseball Sportscenter segment.

On the web gem comment, considering that there is a good chance that anyone watching the LLWS is going to be familiar with that particular segment on baseball tonight fo the days best plays. Saying that a little leaguer made a "Web Gem" type of play is basicly saying that play was as good as any a professional is going to make, which is pretty high praise.

Could it have been a bit of self promotion? Yes, on the other hand it could simply have been him talking using the terms he does on a regular basis for baseball tonight.

Can sumo wrestlers really climb the ladder? I bet they can't even get over a step stool.

Jack should cover gutter installations for the Do It Yourself channel - "Wow! Joe Sixpack really climbed the ladder there, folks."

I believe the Sumo in the Pepsi commercial climbed the ladder to take out Roberto Carlos, and win the header.

That is freakin' hilarious. Someone with editorial control has their finger on the pulse of the BigSoccer humor-meter.

watching the dismal Seahawk-Giant game, one of the announcers had receivers climbing the ladder all over the place.

With genetic superfreaks like Alex Bannister and Amani Toomer...I don't see why anyone was climbing ladders in that game. Maybe Jack is mroe influential than we realize!

But, hey, there's another exciting football score...really a 0-0 tie with a winner if comparing it to soccer.
