I don't know how this works, but if there is a new coach they often pick their own captain, right? Is it possible that they pick someone besides Terry to be the new captain? Are the odds high that the new coach will try to cement his reign by picking his captain?
I know Beckham lost the armband when McSven took over.
What are your thoughts?

eh?
I forgot about the depth we have at CD which shone so brightly against Croatia.
Also, I think Gerrard should remain captain as he set such a shining example

With Terry in 9-10 games England was tied for giving up the least goals in qualifying, without and Stevie Geeearrrd they crashed out giving up more goals in 2 games than in the other 10, yeah Terry is the problem

Correct. Which is why I argued against him getting it in the first place.

you could argue that it wasn't so much that McSven took over, but a poor result at the WC and the aging of Posh boy.

Surely it is best to select your starting XI and then choose a captain out of those players. Whether that is Terry or someone else is irrelevent to me until the team is selected.

More ignorance from a Chelsea fan. The sad part is it was to be expected. It is clear that Terry should not be a lock in the side based on form, talent and injury concerns. To make him one simply because his leadership might be better than other central defenders is a laughable state of affairs. If the only response you have is to ignorantly take one of my Brown comments completely out of context then there is little point in any further response from yourself in this thread.

If he's not the captain who the heck should be? A Gerrard who has been playing almost as badly as Lampard?

The new manager should consider changing the Captain. I am not saying Terry should be relieved of the Captaincy but merely the new boss should consider his options and choose a Captain from the best candidates himself. In such a scenario he may still choose Terry, but it will be his choice rather than McLaren's.

Maybe have a rolling captain and not a set one.
sounds crazy but might just work.

Gerrard should be captain.
why? and actually state solid reasons, as opposed to having Liverpool bias.
