It seems that Newcastle's chairman suddenly flew from their training camp to the USA to reportedly work out a "big deal".
It also appears that he has registered and will be staying in the same hotel that a certain Mr. Kenyan is currently staying in as United continues it's pre-season tour.
Now. I'd be crazy not to link the recent Kieron Dyer rumors to this sudden need for Mr. Shepherd to be so close to Mr. Kenyan.

I really hope it's not true. 25M is about 15M more than Dyer is worth in my book. Especially considering he's so injury prone. Jermaine Jenas on the other hand...(but still not worth 25M)

Sky Sports New reports the visit, but Kenyon has said the visit is NOT related to Manchester United. Could Newcastle be interested in an American or Mexican player? Having said that Kenyons comments could be a smoke screen.

which is very likley, seeing what happened with Ronaldinho.
But hten again...it seems like that whole tranfer opera was just a very large and complicated collection of "smoke screens".

I dunno, isn't there a very wealthy Argentinean that was interested in buying Chelsea / Aston Villa, and might he now be looking at Toon?
Most of the agents for US players (i.e. Carlos Bocanegra, a noted Target of several Premiership teams) are based out of LA. It could be a US or Central / South American player, or it could be a youth player like Freddy Adu, whose agent is likewise based out of LA.
I'm not convinced it's Dyer. Frankly, I don't really rate him. Ronaldinho, Joaquin, Quaresma, Van Der Meyde, those are the type players that I'd see as United targets, but not Dyer.

Too true... I don't see Dyer as that much of an improvement to the midfield we have... certainly not a 25mill kind of improvement...
I hope we can get Joaquin... is there any word on van der meyde's availability?

Dyer would be a good buy but he is injury prone. He wouldnt be my first choice. I would rather they spend cash and buy Joe Cole.

Yess.... forgot about him... he is versatile as well and has a bright future ahead of him... isnt he like 22-23?
I agree he would be an excellent buy... but not as good as Joaquin... although Cole will not have to make as many adjustments...

I have a hard time seeing any player going for 25 million as being a good buy. Dyer definitely is not.

I wouldnt pay that kind of money for him. He would be a good buy, but only at the right price. Newcastle will want too much for him. I would pay £10-12m, but thats a lot less than they would accept. Its all academic because I dont think they are going to buy him, but may be famous last words.
