We seem to have a lot of new members on the boards, and a few older ones as well.

Here is a place to talk about the greatest moments in Manchester History.

For mine, Three moments stick out.

The greatest moment in our recent history is THAT game against Gillingham in the Divison 2 playoff. Sends shivers every time that Dickov scores, 2-0 down most of the game. 2-1 on 92 minutes. Dickov scores to send the blue half of Manchester into raptures and we win in a penalty shootout. The immortal words from Alan Brazil "Gillingham say goodbye to division two, Hello to division one. Party time in Kent Tonight" always gives the right timing for the start of our Renaissance.

Part 1 - Gillingham Vs Manchester City - Up till 89 minutes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xH2mWSzZfs&feature=related)
Part 2 - Gillingham vs Manchester City - 89 till end of stoppage time (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rD3vURiGSX0&feature=related)
Part 3 - Gillingham vs Manchester City - The Penalty shootout (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uU8u3MG1u-c&feature=related)

The next memory goes down as the greatest comeback ever. A decent Manchester side, comes up against real quality in Tottenham in 2004. They find themselves 3-0 down after an insipid half of football, with only 10 men left on the pitch after Joey Barton is sent off. The rest is history.

Thirdly, Shaun Goaters 100th goal for the club on the same day as he leads City to a 3-1 victory and lead to the derby song.

Derby day the score was level
Until the goat was fed by Neville
Silly boy should know for sure
FEED THE GOAT AND HE WILL SCORE!

What is your favorite memory of the great Manchester City?

Yeah, I love all of these moments.

They send shivers up your spine watching the recent history of the club and it's fight to be where we are now.

I would add to that Rovers 1 -- City 4, which put City back in the top flight in 2000. It lacked the sheer drama and extreme necessity of the playoff final, but it was still pretty sweet. That summer some "should get a medal" City fan obtained video tapes of both games, copied them into a USA friendly format and offered them at a very reasonable price to those of us on this side of the pond. :)

Thanks for the memories.

We should've kept The Goat, I never understood why we let him go - top goal scorer and a fav of the fans! I watched him a few times at Maine Road - he could be quite frustrating, particularly when he was heading the ball. He hardly jumped, you could slide a thin newspaper between the turf and his studs! He has a slow pace about him, which fooled defenders, then a bit of magic footwork and the ball was in the net. :D

Not any particular match, but the skill and mastery of Kinky (Kinkladze) (he's obviously a favourite of mine!):

and

fabulous player to watch, must be one of the first to do 'the step over' and more.

Keep the vidoes coming, we've had some really memorable matches.

I made it to Maine Road twice before the move to Eastlands, the first one was Goater's debut, in which he scored. The other was against Macclesfield (!), and he scored in that one too. I used to like to say, "When I go to games, Goater always scores, and City always win". ;)

So many good games:

Man City 2:5 Leeds (When they were top of the Prem, and we were top of Div one), we went 1-0 up, then 2-1 up when they'd equalised, was just an electric atmosphere and a great day out - seeing as it was the FA Cup.

I saw that one in a bar in Boston. Goater got the first, and he was yards offside when he scored it.

The greatest comeback and that is no exaggeration. I cried when I saw that, it was beautiful and a game you could never forget.

Not really a memory since I wasn't following City yet, but one of the first (and best) stories (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsneXI9FYsw&feature=RecentlyWatched&page=1&t=t&f=b) I learned.

sorry but it has to be Colin Bell coming out against Newcastle for his comeback game after his injury. A boring 0-0 turned into a 4-0 victory with an electric atmosphere. ALL the crowd , including the away fans gave the legend a standing ovation. There were quite a few grown men sniffling at that moment

What a great day that was. A packed away end of 8,000, plus another 12,000+ in the home ends, not forgetting the many thousands drinking in Blackburn pubs outside the ground.

One of the best memories I will carry to my grave comes from that day. Getting the train back to Victoria, on the train you could not move but it was bedlam on the train with the whole train in fine voice. And when we got back into Manchester the whole trainload swarmed off the train and gave a rousing rendition of Blue Moon. Manchester shoppers looked totally bemused about that.

Today goes up very highly on my list.

Manchester City 2 Manchester United 1.

First win at Old Trafford since Alex Fergason took over the scum, first double since then 1967 season (i think)

Sure everyone will agree today will go down as one of the best. The 10:1 victory over Huddersfield was great too, never chanted we want "10" at a match before... lol.

But all time fave got to be the 1989 5:1 Derby at Maine Rd - Best match ever :D

Good luck to Blue's all over the world, and dont to be too hard on the Rag's tommorow ;)

Glory days: 1968 First Division Championship

"May 11th 1968 saw City win the First Division Championship thanks to a thrilling 4-3 victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park, the title triumph being made all the sweeter by the fact that Manchester United finished in the runners-up spot."
