Emergency On-line petition to save
Liverpool FC manager Rafael Benitez

There is now an emergency on-line petition of support for Liverpool Football Club manager Rafael Benitez. This on-line petition has been set up to amass support for Rafael Benitez following reports in various newspapers and websites that his departure or sacking is imminent.
Who in their right mind would even consider sacking a manager, who in my opinion, is the most tactically astute manager in europe bar none? It is absurd and obscene, and it is imperative that every true Liverpool supporter back Rafael Benitez.
The new American owners promised when they took over OUR club, to "abide by the traditions, values and heritage of the club". The fact they are reportedly on the verge of dismissing the most revered and tactically astute manager since Bob Paisley in 1983 is nothing short than a disgrace, and proves their words and promises mean nothing, and they must not be allowed to get away with it.
Here is a man who is already a legend at Anfield following his astonishing feat of leading Liverpool to TWO Champions League finals in his 3 short seasons in charge.
To treat Rafael Benitez, a man of the utmost integrity in such a manner is disgusting and the repercussions of sacking such a manager would, again, in my opinion, make the owners position, Messrs Tom Hicks & George Gillett untenable.
Please sign the petition if you support Rafael Benitez and wish for him to remain as Liverpool Football Club's manager, and please forward this Email on to as many fellow Liverpool FC supporters as possible, thank you. (Graham A)

Overreaction if you ask me. Who has ever said....besides the ********in' S*n that he was getting sacked... Come on!!!

Tom Hicks,George Gillett and Rafa have said that they plan on getting together Early December. I'm sure the the owners know how we feel right now about Rafa, shoving this in their faces is like throwing petrol on a fire.

One petition has already gone through here.

I've never met anyone from home (Merseyside) who just supports England. Strange.

...been in Texas awhile....Jimmy Melia is a good friend (Liverpool great from the 60's) and we watched the England Croatia game with a few other English lads. Look, Tom Hicks is nobodies fool and the day he lets some misguided/tapped up Spaniard tell him off in public....well....there's only one winner in that and it ain't Rafa.

So go ahead, have your on-line petitions....won't make a blind bit of difference....either Rafa backs off on criticising the owner or he's gone.

I agree that petition isn't going to do a thing. Infact like Usscouse said theres to many knocking about... Were starting to look like Everton.

As far as Rafa being tapped up I think your very wrong. Rafa has had many chance to go to Madrid in the past, and he's knocked them back. I not saying he won't go there one day, but thats not the reason for whats going on right now. Now I'm just guessing here, but I think Hicks has lost interest in Liverpool and may not care who's in charge. And if I'm right about that he would do well keeping Rafa about as his share of the club would be worth more with a good manager in, and happy fans.

It will be interesting to see how this shakes out, thats for sure. Don't for a minute believe Hicks has "lost interest in Liverpool" do believe he will not be pushed around by ANY manager and chances are he's well aware of the transfer bungs that seem to be part and parcel of the game in England and have been for many, many years.

What have transfer bungs got to do with the price of fish???

Are you drunk?

Hicks has probably been shocked at the ammount of corruption in the English game. Bungs are a reality and have been for decades. If Hicks does decide to sell, this will be the main reason.

I'm not far off.

As for the incoherent comment, it's a popular one back home. My Gran used it all the time.

I never did find out how much they were though.

...been in Texas awhile....No shit, that's hard to tell...!Jimmy Melia is a good friend (Liverpool great from the 60's) Wow! So that's who he is? Nobody here has ever heard of Jimmy Melia until you just happened to drop his name.......
I'll bet any conversation you've ever had with him goes something like this....

Can I buy you another drink Jimmy, please Jimmy?

Is that comfortable for you Jimmy or should I use more Vaseline?

How about a wank tonight Jimmy my bum is sore, or should I take my teeth out?

Boy we really are impressed with you and you friendship with Jimmy and your intimate knowledge of the business interests of Tommy and Georgie.
How do you get on with GWB, does he ask your advice also? Don't answer that, it's pretty obvious that he does.

Come back and troll again, your so original.

Were you somehow not able to comprehend what usscouse said to you when he used "your" instead of "you're"? Otherwise, take your grammar whining elsewhere.

It has quotes and is a paraphrase from An Officer and a Gentleman.

Just because you were born in Merseyside and have a friend who played for Liverpool doesn't make you an expert on football, Liverpool, "bungs", or Benitez. And living in Tejas doesn't make you an expert on Hicks or steers.

I repeat -- if you want to slander Rafa go somewhere else.
