I am a little worried.
Somebody says that it is very difficult for NYCFC to play in interim at Shea Stadium or at Citifield before that a new soccer stadium is built.
Is it true ?
ARE THERE AT LEAST 50% OF POSSIBILITIES TO SEE OUR TEAM IN MLS IN 2010 ?
Thank you for reply.

Ha! I can put one together with ice pop sticks faster then RBPark is going up. But I must admit that it is going to be a beauty.

If the MLS determines to put 18 teams in 2010, the choice of the 17th and 18th teams there will be in November 2008 ? If so, it can be a positive aspect because in November 2008 surely the Shea Stadium will be still intact to be used for soccer.

Shea Stadium is not the right facility to have... and shea is property of the NY state parks department.... If the NY club were to play at shea the NY club would have to lease out shea just like the baseball team did for so many years.. and the yanks in yankee stadium as well....
Why would the mets continue to lease out shea and still have to pay money to the city when they have their own private property that is 100% theirs... leasing shea even if its not at what ever price the mets leased it out for and those super long term agreements is still money wasted... when they can play at citi where there is no money wasted and no money being taken out of the team... its money that goes back to the MLS team from day 1...
from what I understand the idea is to bulid the SSS right where shea stands now.....
Soccer at Shea is a pipe dream.....I think they will be at citi field from day 1

I promise you we will not be a Citi Field.
Mets fans would be upset that we would "ruin" their brand new field.
Shea will be torn down, and citi is not an option.
Our only hope is the purchise and reformation of the Iron Triangle, and maybe an SSS somewhere around there. The only catch is that we would
be waiting for years and years before that would happen, and I have a feeling the 18th team will already be picked.

Seattle will play in a football stadium.
Revolution as well.
DC play in a multi-purpose stadium.
The difference between those and Shea?
Shea is a baseball field, and circular, where as american football
fields are rectangle, and those stadiums are designed to have proper
viewing lines for that field.
Baseball stadiums are almost always only for baseball because of it's
usual diamond shaped stadium.
Moreover, Citifield will be more like an old "jewel Box" stadium, which is even more difficult to make into a proper soccer field due to it's very specific design for baseball.

Shea stadium converts into a football field quite easily. Just look:

Ever since the Jack Bell article, the silence is deafening. I have doubts about the city team, and as I've said in the past, Red Bull just isn't going to like the idea, and they have leverage with the league.
I hope I'm wrong because it will be the best thing ever. But at some point, there has got to be some news.

NYC COSMOS, in your opinion is it possible to play 1 or 2 years at Shea stadium and contemporaneously to build the new stadium where now there is the parking lot near Shea ?

Well Garber mentioned the Wipons and Shea stadium in the State of the League Address so I think that is a pretty solid lead.
