Now that we have the embarrassment of not qualifying maybe it is time to look at not just the manager at this time of rebuilding but the players themselves. Now I am not saying the likes of Lampard, Gerrard, Barry, Lescott should never play for the country again but we should look at giving other players a real stretch in the side, it is not as if they have a lot to live up to and surpass now is it?

First of all where Matt Dawson was was on Wednesday evening, and why did Wes Brown the starting Utd right back get overlooked, Richards should have been centre back instead of the lack of pace big two we had in there.

The likes of Bentley, Lennon, & Young keep being overlooked for J.Cole and Shaun Wright Phillips. Now in the case of Joe Cole I agree he has done more good than bad for England so I will leave him out of the debate, but Wright Phillips continually get’s selected and continues to put crosses into the first man, every sixth cross he might get one in.

Centre Midfield is an area where we have a massive array of world class ability – Gerrard, Lampard, Hargreaves are all top quality but there are others out there that may show more passion. I will leave out Hargreaves as well, because when he plays he does play hard, and show passion. But what about Mark Noble, Scott Parker, Reo Coker. Yes they may not be as “good” as Gerrard and Lamaprd but when was the last time they played well for England.

In defense I used to think change it but now as soon as we can get our old back four together the better, then just bring in young lads in games that do not matter so much. This is the one area we really can not afford to mess around in.

Up front, apart from the obvious choices, we should now look at Derbyshire and Agbonlahore now and give them their chance.

My next England team would look like this if fit and available,

Robinson (if he finds form, shown signs today at West Ham)

G.Neville Terry Ferdinand A. Cole

Beckham Hargreaves Parker Lennon

Rooney Owen

Subs: Defoe, Crouch, SWP, Bentley, Richards, Brown, Dawson

Micha Richards would be looking at centre back for me now, he has not got the positional awareness to play right back, he is too young, and Neville has the edge.

In a few years it should look like this:

Foster

D. Simpson M. Richards S. Taylor N. Onuoha

D. Bentley M. Johnson M.Noble A. Lennon

T. Walcott W. Rooney (c)

Subs & Squad: Derbyshire Agbonlahore, Huddlestone, Milner, G.Cahill, Heaton, Vaughn, Moore Reo Coker, Miller, Eagles.

Um... in a few years we'll still be playing qualifying games for WC 2010, what's the point of starting the campaign with one set of players and then radically changing it towards the end of the same qualifying campaign?

I am on about looking past the next world cup in 2010, and i havent said i would change the whole side have i, i would gradually phase the older players out over the YEARS to come, and get it to that side - that is what i was trying to get at.

You have added SWP to the subs bench which has no CM on it ahead of Gerrard, Lampard, Carrick (even though he is shit) and you have added SWP even though you said this below...do you want England to continue to lose?

Wright Phillips continually get’s selected and continues to put crosses into the first man, every sixth cross he might get one in

So your starting Beckham ahead of Lampard, Gerrard, Bentley

Dawson has been the culprit for most of Tottenhams mistakes and goals conceded...Lescott is clearly a better CB than Dawson

Foster

D. Simpson M. Richards S. Taylor N. Onuoha

D. Bentley M. Johnson M.Noble A. Lennon

Why would you play a match with 11 right footers...that team would have the most predictable attacks...there would be no width on the left at all and Onouha is a RB or CB, not a LB. Michael Johnson has played probably 2 good games this season...not very promising for the next best CM for England (no wonder why you arent in the top 15 nations)

Are you a Manure supporter...Heaton ahead of Scott Carson...youve gotta be joking...Scott Carson is your most skilled goalkeeper and he is young

IMO, these teams are absolute s***...if that was the future England team, you wont make the Euro's or a World Cup for probably 20 years

Mate f*** off back to OZ and stay there, that side - the younger one would beat australlia now, it has pace, quality and - fair enough no left footed players, but quality players can play anywhere.

I am right footed but all my footballing days i played left wing and that was for leicest city acamdemy, behind me was also a right footer. If you really think lennon could not hold left mid, and aright back could not play LB then you are mistaken

So that team would beat this Aussie team

____________Schwarzer____________

Emerton___Neill___Beauchamp___Carney

_____________Grella____________

Bresciano______Cahill_________Kewell

________McDonald____Viduka_______

Subs: Jones, Wilkshire, Culina, Valeri, Carle, Thompson, Kennedy

Yeah keep dreaming mate...that young English team wouldnt get close to the best Aussie team. Hmm...Danny simpson would easily beat Kewell, Onouha would easily beat Bresc and Noble would easily beat Cahill...and Taylor and Richards against McDonald and Viduka...just keep that dream going...

Unless critiquing a lineup, and saying how unfeasible that group of youngsters would be together is off topic... He didn't bring up Australia until provoked by this gem of nativism and stupidity:

And 'ladyboy' teams in the Asia Cup? Have some respect.

you point being? you don't win anything on potential, and these lineups are based entirely on conjectured whim.

There are some brilliant players in the mix, but that's not to say that this group of heralded future stars would function as a team.

How many u21 players don't end up playing consistently for the seniors?

It's a rightful comment about the teams, he didn't bring up his nationality until he was attacked by a stupid jibe, and I'm not sure who you're alluding to as your stalker, but I'd say savor it.

The teams are unbalanced. Or do you genuinely believe that Tom Heaton is the next England great? or that Chris Eagles will be anywhere even near the lineup?
