Well, actually, I'm not born in Germany. I'm born and mostly raised in Toronto. I am German, just sadly not a native born.
And I was to a point joking, just the posting format wouldn't let me add anything else, it kept giving me an error message. I have always found it just slightly annoying, but mostly at the Sports Commentators, who should know a little better how to say it I should think, because I don't think the "ü" is difficult at all. And don't feel bad about no one being able to say your name right, no one in North America (that includes my home country of Canada) is ever able to correctly pronounce my first name either (because it's in old Fränkisch dialect spelling). Although, in your defense, your name is more common and "normal" than mine ;)
Nuremberg is not a wrong pronunciation of nuernberg, it's the name of the city in the english language.
names of places are often different in different languages due to distortions and adaptations to different languages way back in the day
and I'm not saying something of great wisdom here.

Michael Beauchamp is on his way to Liaoning FC in China. Li Tie, former Everton player, used to play for this club.

Where did you get this info from?
All I know is that the other Aussie Joshua Kennedy is moving to Karlsruhe.

I was going to call "bullshit" on that Beauchamp story, but realized TOLH might have it before German sources do.
I have no idea on that story, but FCN does have too many defenders and Beauchamp was rated one of worst players of the first half of the season by Kicker magazine......

Before Abardonado came, they had exactly 3 CB's (from whom Glauber wasn't fit for a very long time).
I even remember a few games when Galasek had to play as a defender...

I said "defenders." Meaning overall defensive players...
Hello?
If I meant center backs, I would have said center backs.

But you surely know that Beauchamp is a CB (his worst games were when he had to play as a RB)...

I thought you guys were just being quiet, so I didn't bother to check this thread. I was getting e-mails on updates before, but never received one for quite some time.
I heard from my wife today that there were some personnel changes taking place, so I decided to go take a look at some of the sports news sites and then I said "maybe I'll check in on the thread." Lo and behold, you guys are keeping everything updated here.
Anyone have any idea why I'm not getting e-mail notifications?
I hope everyone enjoyed the new year.
Take care
Billy

So what? Martin Amedick did the same thing and he didn't suck.

Great start and good performance in the opening minutes, rewarded with Koller's goal ... but after playmaker Misimovic's injury (he'll be out for a few weeks, what is a huge loss), they suddenly forgot how to play football! The defence (without Wolf) with another terrible blackout, which led to the 1:1.

Tough time for Hans Meyer and the fans...
Just curious whether they are going to write off the UEFA-Cup away game in Lissabon next Thursday in order to save power for the BL match in Bremen.

This afternoon, Hans Meyer gives a press-conference concerning the UEFA-Cup away match in Lissabon...
http://www.fcn.de/index.php?id=16560
... and 2 hours later, the 'garbage paper' called "BILD" (his worst "enemy" since many years) announces his dismissal! After a few minutes, the whole German sport media (incl. DSF) reports that Hans Meyer is sacked ... only himself and the official FCN homepage (they still don't make any statements there) seem to be surprised from this news. Really weird, isn't it? Well, it's always nice to get informed about your own dismissal by the press...

Sacking a manager with so many merits this way, is simply a bad style and I would be very ashamed if I was a FCN fan (well, my brother is)!
Good luck without any manager in Lisbon on Thursday ... you'll surely need it!

The way I see it, it was one "great year." Last season. And it just goes to show that football is very much a "what have you done for me lately" business.
This will not be a stupid move if they get the guy they are after. Thomas von Heesen.
If they don't get him, then yes, this was a stupid move.......
If they get TvH, I think it will be the right move.
But yes, it is f#cked up how it all went down.
EDIT: And if I just heard the DSF announcer correctly, FCN has confirmed that TvH will be the new coach!

It sure is. I said it on the Lautern-board and I can only say it again here. I just dont see the sense in firing a coach TWO games after the winterbreak! If you want to get rid of him, have the balls and do it before the break, then the new coach has a chance to built something up... Firing him now is just plain rediculous. Cant say Im surprised tough in Roth´s case...

Very sad.
He has said before that Nürnberg would be his last coaching position, I hope he'll be on TV. Dump Günter Netzer, let Meyer talk about football (and in fact, about whatever he likes).

It wasn't just Roth's call. The entire leadership met on it (including the man who brought Meyer to FCN, manager Martin Bader) and they voted unanimously to sack Meyer.
And you are right. They should have fired him during the winter break and there was talk of doing just that.
But from what I've heard they wanted to see if the team would show any progress at the start of the second half of the season.
I'm also pretty sure they feared the fan backlash too. The last coach who was that popular in Nuernberg was a guy named Felix Magath.
But, the team didn't have the start managment wanted to see, and they did what they felt they had to do. Personally, I LOVE Hans Meyer, but I think FCN got this one right.
What were they supposed to do? Do what HSV did last year with that idiot Thomas Doll??
They took action now and they got who many believe to be the best coach available.
I think TvH will give this FCN team the boot up the f#cking ass they seem to severely need.
