View Full Version : Der Club! The FCN thread 07/08 part II[R]

Since FCN has the Aussie connection and Advocaat just screwed us over, I'm disappointed they didnt get the win to get some revenge on the greedy bastard.
Be happy that you did not get him! One of the worst managers I know (no comparison to Guus Hiddink).
He's only successful when he's allowed to spend a lot of cash (so happened in Glasgow at Rangers, when he "gifted" the club a huge amount of debts after his leaving, and now in St. Petersburg with the Gazprom millions). His 5 months engagement in Mönchengladbach (one of the biggest mistakes from our board) was enough to destabilize the whole team by buying 7(!) new players within the winter break! It's still a little "wonder" that Horst Köppel managed to avoid relegation after the "stubborn fat Dutchman" thankfully retired 5 games before the end of the season 2004/2005...

Good luck for the important away clash in Duisburg! Nürnberg won only 1 of the last 26 games there...

30.11.2007:

0:0 at half time.
Duisburg has to take more risk after the interval, what should create more counter attack opportunities for Nürnberg.

Simply unbelievable how they could lose this game!
The clearly better team after the interval with plenties of good scoring opportunities (post, bar etc.) ... and then they concede a goal due to one of the typical defence mistakes this season.
Tja, selber Schuld! If you lose to the weaker opponents, it surely won't be easy to leave the relegation zone...
Btw: That Chinese comment is really funny:-)

I was in my favorite pub in Erlangen watching this match. FCN was very unlucky. :(

What a sad, disappointing and frustrating day for der Club and die Cluberer.
And against Duisberg too? :( That is brutal.
Well, here are some articles about it, and the first one has pictures from the match...

They had so many chances to score in that match, it wasn't funny. They were totally unlucky and then they paid for not utilizing those chances. It happens so much in this game we love so much.

Just 1 hour before the start of the UEFA Cup game between Nürnberg & Alkmaar ... and still no "Vorbericht" in this thread? You seem to be very busy at the moment, Annje.
The weather is perfect for a great game tonight (no more rain, no more wind, acceptable temperature)! Unfortunately I won't be at stadium this time (there's still tickets available), since I've just arrived at home.
Ok, then let's see a few pre-match reports:
http://www.fcn.de/uploads/pics/fcn_alkmaar.jpg
04.12.2007:
"Wollen unsere Chance nutzen!"

Harry seems to be pretty confident...

04.12.2007:

Great comment from Hans Böller (his brother Roland, ex manager of the former Franconian world champ swimmer Hannah Stockbauer, is a big Borussia fan :)), the sport chief editor of the "Nürnberger Nachrichten":

Finally a "Kicker" pre-report and the supposed starting line-ups:
http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/uefa/startseite/artikel/372741/
http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/uefa/spielrunde/spielpaarungsvorschau/object/830303
I'm not sure whether the starting line-up on both sites is ok ... since I thought that Ari was still suspended and there are rumours about Benko starting instead of Mintal (would mean that FCN is playing more a 4:3:3 than a 4:5:1).
Let's hope that Hans Meyer's (former Twente manager) infos about the Dutch football will be helpful to get the vital victory tonight! However, a draw could be enough as well in the case that Everton will defeat Zenit (a 2:0 or 3:0 would be fine:-).
We'll see...
Auf ein gutes Spiel und einen Heimsieg!

Good start, then they suddenly forgot how to play football. The defence (especially the FB's Engelhardt and Reinhardt) terrible once again - it could easily have been 2:0 for AZ - and the attack non existent. And when they get a 100 % chance, they miss it miserably (Charisteas a few seconds before the interval)! Benko out and Mintal in after 35 minutes, let's wait up whether this measure will be successful...
Another bad news from Goodison Park, where the hosts missed a pk. At least they play 11 vs 10 ... so there might be a chance that they score after the interval.
Btw: Superb goal from De Zeeuw and deserved lead for AZ after 45 minutes!

What a good second half, what a sensational finish and what great goals! Deserved victory due to the second 45 minutes, when the hosts showed great fighting spirit, dominated the game and created a few good scoring opportunities against a strong opponent! The key to the turnaround was the so much criticized Ivan Saenko in my eyes, who came in for Adler and simply couldn't be controlled by the AZ defence! Fantastic assists from him & Reinhardt for Mintal's great finishes! FINALLY they scored home goals in the UEFA Cup and now have all chances to go through with an away win in Larissa.
KUDOS and congrats on this vital victory!
PS: I'm curious what my brother (he and a few friends were at stadium tonight) will report me about the atmosphere tomorrow. The Nordkurve sounded superbly once again.
