He has said before that Nürnberg would be his last coaching position, I hope he'll be on TV. Dump Günter Netzer, let Meyer talk about football (and in fact, about whatever he likes).

I agree with that, but Meyer has also been quoted as saying "Never say never" when asked if he would possibly take another position at FCN.......

But from what I've heard they wanted to see if the team would show any progress at the start of the second half of the season.

As if they had played soooo badly during the whole Vorrunde (I remember many games they lost quite unlucky or due to their own stupidity)...

What about such blackouts like in Karlsruhe (stupid yellow/red for Wolf) or against Rostock (unbelievable silly goal they conceded)? Was that the manager's fault? Was it Meyer's fault that he had to replace once again important players like Wolf, Kluge, Mintal and even Misimovic with injury after 20 minutes?

And what about the great UEFA Cup run?

Personally, I LOVE Hans Meyer, but I think FCN got this one right.

I don't think that the way they sacked him was "right" but a total disgrace  ... what shows once again the ugly mug of their boss Roth (who was quoted on Saturday with the words "Ich werde den Trainer nicht entlassen")! Hans Meyer (who had announced to retire on his own in the case that they shouldn't beat Cottbus) simply didn't deserve such a dishonest and shameful leaving just a few days before the UEFA-Cup match in Lisbon, which would have been a highlight in his impressive career. How can you make a fool of a coach with such merits and send him to the press conference to talk about the preparations for the Benfica match ... although the media knew that he was already fired since Sunday night?

Well, just read this comment from the "Nürnberger Nachrichten":

http://www.nn-online.de/artikel.asp?art=769769&kat=31

My brother is so pissed off that he offered his Benfica ticket to me ... and as I refused to take it (I'll never again attend a game at Frankenstadion, except for BMG away matches), he's going to sell it on Ebay now. And I bet he's not the only FCN fan being ashamed and mad...

Do what HSV did last year with that idiot Thomas Doll??

Nice to see you calling your own manager an "idiot"...

I can understand him being mad, but WTF! Im pretty sure hes gonna regret that at some point... its not like nuernberg will just have uefacup games every season from now on...
But yes, Roth is imo an imense A-hole and probably one of the most unsympathetic persons in the Bundesliga (though Dieter Hoeness still beats him by miles for the title)

See, all the f#cking CRAP I see here is why I might have a soft spot for FCN the club, but I can't stand most FCN fans from that area!

Roth, Roth, Roth! I hate that f#cking guy. I think he's a big clown, but he is not guilty of what all you sit here and accuse him of!

It was not HIS DECISION ALONE to fire Hans Meyer! It was a freakin' UNANIMOUS DECISION by FCN's managing committee, including the man who brought Meyer to FCN, manager Martin Bader!

The decision was also not "made public" by FCN before they told Meyer! Someone LEAKED the information to "Bild" before they could give Meyer word of the decision!

Just because you love Hans Meyer, it doesn't give him the right to decide when he should go if the management decides he should go first! I don't give a flying f#ck who you are, if your management says you go, then you f#cking go!

And Uwe, stop whining like a spoiled child! This was a decision made by a club who did not want to wait until it was too f#cking late to try to get their club back on track!

Last season was what it was! Just like Stuttgart's title, a very LUCKY run by a club who played over its head!

THEY SIMPLY WERE NOT DOING THAT THIS SEASON AND SHOWED NO SIGNS OF MOVING FORWARD!

You talk about some "great" UEFA Cup run? They barely got by in each round! You're sitting there writing like they are kicking ass or something.

You write about individual mistakes in the league and ask "Is that the manager's fault?"

WHO IS SUPPOSED TO PREPARE THEM AND GIVE THEM THEIR GAME PLAN??

When a club is in a rut in the Bundesliga as FCN is now, a change needs to be made! That team is underachieving at the level it overachieved last season!

You don't get to have four wins, four draws and eleven f#cking losses because your manager is great and the team somehow just throws it all away!

Last year is just what it was. LAST F#CKING YEAR!!!

This is exactly how Hans Meyer has lost other jobs! He eventually loses his team! And it is well apparent that he's lost the ability to push this team!

There are only so many smart and clever antidotes you can come up with when you simply aren't doing the f#cking job!

And as far as your f#cking shot at me about THAT IDIOT THOMAS DOLL??!

When our team has the best team we've had in about four years and we have more losses at this point in the season than we've had in TWENTY F#CKING YEARS, then yes, I'm going to call the manager A F#CKING IDIOT!

Just because YOU think he's some kind of great coach doesn't make it true! The F#CKING FACTS are right in the club's RECORD! The f#cking facts are in his record over the past two full seasons!!

That is why Hans Meyer doesn't have a job anymore and the reason THAT IDIOT Thomas Doll still has one is because BVB's management is quite possibly the most stupid in all of the 1. Bundesliga.

I don't know what pisses me off more, the fact that I support a club with such idiots in management or the fact that you guys are sitting here bitching and moaning about a management team that has the balls to fire a highly popular manager because he isn't getting the job done anymore!

You still didn't check it, Keith! Setzen, Note 6! :p;)

Just read this very carefully:

"Die Art und Weise dieser Trennung war beschämend nicht nur für den 1. FC Nürnberg, sondern für die gesamte Branche."

http://www.nn-online.de/artikel.asp?art=769769&kat=31

Capito adesso? :-)

It's not about sacking a manager (although I'm sure that Hans Meyer would have retired on his own after the Rostock game if they had the balls to tell him that they don't trust him anymore and therefore have contacted a new manager) ... but about the STYLE of doing this! You can't tell him to hold a press conference and talk half an hour about the Benfica match (Hans was also quoted that he was so proud and looking forward to this game after having invited all his children and grand children to Lisbon) although they had already decided to fire him the evening before! The peak of this disgrace was the fact that - in contrast to him - the BLÖD paper was informed about his dismissal ... and of course, the journalists of the yellow press enjoyed spreading this "great" message (don't forget that they couldn't stand Hans since his time in Mönchengladbach, when they had even started an ugly campaign against him) all around the German media ... while Roth & Bader were meeting Von Heesen.

I'm not so much disappointed with Mr. Roth (I've always known that he's the Nr. 1 joke of the whole Bundesliga) but with Martin Bader, whom I've always respected until now.

So far about this topic. If you really think it was right, please take a look at diverse forums ... and you will see how much the Club's image has suffered due to this story. How I mentioned before, I'll never again attend a game at Frankenstadion (except for Borussia's away games or derbies against Fürth) as long as Roth & Bader are representing the club!

What have individual mistakes to do with the game plan? Did you see tonight's UEFA Cup away match in Lisbon? You can be well-prepared & have a perfect game plan ... nevertheless, all is for nothing if you're doing individual mistakes in every game! This time it wasn't a CB but the goalie Blazek. They played a good first half and controlled almost the whole game in Lisbon ... but they lost again due to a terrible goalkeeper mistake in the end. So do you really think that their new manager is responsible for this mistake and the injury losses of many important players because he didn't prepare them well and didn't give them a decent game plan?

So far about this topic.

Btw: Here's the match report from Lisbon (about 5,000 FCN fans, who rocked the stadium during the whole 90 minutes, attended the game at Da Luz).

Well, it was the expected away defeat in Bremen today ... but the way they lost the game was soooo typical once again! Stupid yellow/red card for Saenko ... and then a terrible mistake from Wolf that led to the 0:1.

It's all the manager's fault, though ... I'm right, Keith? :p;)

What I want to know is why Josh Kennedy, who has just scored his third goal in 3 games for Karlsruhe (excuse my poor spelling), did not get much game time at FCN?

Was the lack of confidence from the management getting him down, as the guy can obviously score goals?

Vfbstuttgartfan

The answer is because he's a really poor football player. Soon he'll have bad games for KSC and then he won't be playing there much either.

The Old Lady Hertha

Yea, he's really bad. He's never scored even in the 2. Bundesliga, so these last 3 goals have really come as a surprise.

That's not true. He scored 7 goals and assisted 5 within 26 games for Dynamo Dresden, what is pretty ok in my eyes!

CLICK (http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/spieler/701/joshuablakekennedy/default/2007/leistungsdaten.html)

And he scored a sensational goal for Nürnberg against Frankfurt, so he can't be as bad as you may think. ;)

Of course, he isn't a striker with great pace and perfect technical skills ... but his header qualities are more than decent! IMO he's quite useful as a central striker in a 4:3:3 or 4:2:3:1 system...

It's true that he didn't meet the expectations in Nuremberg (he had been injured for a very long time, what could be a reason) ... but that doesn't mean that he must be a bad player! He was a very solid striker in Dresden some years ago, and now he's doing quite well in Karlsruhe.

BUT KENNEDY WON'T  :p

What I meant is he never consistently scored in the 2. Bundesliga.
