We need to get this campaign going! We need to get the word out past these online borders. In the street. With your friends. Flyers leaflets ETC ETC ETC. Queens needs to be awoken with the sound of your message. MLS IS HERE and the TEAM WILL BE IN QUEENS.
Please everyone hand in your ideas and suggestions. I know that several people have formed groups and have many ideas for logos and such. I find it all excellent. I will accept all ideas, please no rival teams unless you have something constructive to post. I'm not looking to have a flame war in this thread. We can leave that for the chants in the stands. Have fun posting!

I have an idea that is really grassroots and may be quite novel.
I work in a restaurant in Brooklyn, and I notice alot of British Expats
and others that come in on the weekend with their soccer jerseys.
Not only that but on the subway and elsewhere.
My idea is to come up with a well written single paged document.
The page will have a brief statement of purpose conserning MLS, and
joining "New York City Football Club : Official Supports Club",
( I Think Borough Boys might scare some away at first )
Anyway, it would have web links and other info, clear and precise.
I could hand some out , especially at soccer bars in NYC, and their are plenty of them all over the city.
I don't know....I think it might be easier for us to find them, versus them to
happen to find us.

Certainly a good idea!! This should be done as soon as the identity and the Borough Boys Charter are settled!
Only one question though: Why do you think the Borough Boys name might scare some away? If we do it right, and layout the document and logos etc. professionally, with a well edited text, what is reppeling about the name? I'd rather say that the name Borough Boys as a community of interests is more understandable and catchy to an outsider, than an "Official Supporters Club" of a team that does not exists yet, which could be irritating or misleading.

I am trying to work on a flyer - information document - i think once we have a logo that should be ready to go. Talk to these guys - see if they would support - feel them out now - that would be great. Then let them know about us. Give them the email address as well.
Our campiagn ideas for the BB in talks are.
1. going to matches around the city and Long Island (i.e - rough riders and Brooklyn knights) and handing out flyers.
2. Getting to MLS matches with our name on a huge banner - announcing our presence
3. i am making contacts to get us heard - already getting some feedback, while it might be on the smaller scale, I think we can have a bigger one within the year. I have some people at smaller, local papers already talking to me!
What we need is people that will really help! People that will show up at the matches and hand out flyers. When we go to the RB match, we cant have 10 people - we need a Huge group! Serious people.
If you are interested in helping - let me know. With the holidays right now, I understand schedules are booked but ask Southpaw or myself, we have really gotten a lot of positive feedback!

Wow did I have a productive Thanksgivings. I got together with my old soccer team and I told them about the team coming to NYC. Anyhow they are spreading the word as we speak. In a couple of weeks I'm going to be touring the Indoor Soccer events throughtout Queens to gauge the responsiveness of the fans. I have a group already of around 40 people for this supporter group. I'm going to start a flyer campaign and a email campaign as well. Also an ad campaign in several well read publications in Queens that are read by the Sleeping Giant.
To sum it up it was a pretty productive couple of days. I'm so glad to be back.
I also think that we need to brainstorm outside of these boards. Sometimes there are too many EYES around here. Specifically from RBNJ supporters. lol lol

I think we need to finalize a logo very soon so we can seem
a bit more official. Everybody needs to finish up all the ideas.
Actually...we need to vote on things that we feel should be included
in the logo, then work from there.

how about trying to get some networking angle happening with local soccer businesses. soccer shops, establishments that run indoor/summer leagues. not just talking about ayso stuff, talking about adult leagues so that way we can come close to replecating what Toronto FC had this past year. something along the lines of what NYC Cosmos did.
not saying that we shouldn't try to encourage youth soccer players to join up, by all means they should. you need to create the next generation of fans, but i think you all would agree that an element missing in many mls matches is that electric atmoshphere (of course without the holiganism) that most every other league on the planet has which is why i referenced TFC. there was an effort to got fans of all ages involved. i think this one good avenue in which we could attempt to do the same.
This team has to have the LOUDEST, STRONGEST, WILDEST and MOST COMMITTED supporter section. Earlier today I posted that over the past several days I've been talking to my friends from the soccer leagues in Queens. Also now they are moving indoor and I'm going to take the message to them at the indoor leagues.
Also I'm developing a flyer to distribute throughout Queens to market the team. Basically bringing awareness to the street. We need to inform the people that are going to be fans of this upcoming MLS team. This will start to cause a BUZZ. I want to AWAKEN THE SLEEPING GIANT. These streets are teeming with soccer fans. They WANT TO FOLLOW a team but they want the team to represent them.
The faster we bring the message to the people the sooner this can happen. Give me your thoughts and ideas.

I am sure that potentially soccer in NYC can be the first sport and a soccer team in Queens in 2010 is surely the ideal solution for MLS.
A new NYCFC will become one of the more fellowed soccer team in USA, but also in the rest of the world !!
NYCFC = 2010 MLS

That's why I find it so important that the team is marketed the right way. This cant be a AYSO team but rather let AYSO be a part of the team. It has to be a serious endeavor and not a farce or experiment. NYC deserves a true Futbol team like no other in the world (my cosmos delusion talking). Anyway I think that if all things are done right and soccer tradition is respected on and off the field, then we will have a winning team in Queens.

Here in Naples the soccer team is a fundamental part of the city. The supporters put often great posters on the walls in all city and in her hinterland to send messages to other supporters or to the same club.
Isn't possible to put great posters at least in the more important zones of the NYC ( Times Square, Union Square, Washington Square ....., but above all near the seat of the MLS and the seat of the METS !!!! ). In fact I think that a great our advantage is that the MLS headquarter is in NYC and that Don Garber was borned in Queens ( the ideal seat of the NYCFC Stadium ).
The message of the poster could be this:
After almost 15 years of wait, the most important city in the world DESERVES a true team in the most important sport in the world ( SOCCER, of course ). We want:
NEW YORK CITY FOOTBALL CLUB IN 2010 MLS SEASON !!!!!!!!!

Bruce McGuire lists his 10 soccer podcasts on the right hand side of his blog. We might be able to get a segment devoted to NYCFC discussion.

If we go to a Mets game, maybe we can try to get SNY to do an in-game segment on us?

Another idea:
Maybe bring up the subject of NYCFC on World Soccer Daily/ Fox Football Fone In, and mention the Borough Boys?

FFF or World Soccer Daily is a good idea.
I've heard Sons of Ben on their before...it's worth a shot.
