I have expressed similar sentiments to Hammermolder recently.

England have a history of blaming a certain player or two for their failings both in the team and the press. I remember when England lost to Brazil after Ronaldinho scored that free kick, Seaman looked like a man who had mentally collapsed after the final whistle. I couldn't believe my eyes, the way everyone assumed that the defeat was all his fault. Players, fans and commentators alike.

Before that we have had Pearce, Waddle and Southgate all held solely responsible. Very bad practice IMV and not the way I would like our Green to be treated.
