...or whatever it is properly called.

Pardon the intrusion. During Sunday's ABC telecast I noticed something on the order of a wall-of-fame on RFK, featuring a ton of names of athletes from various teams. Thought I'd ask the knowledgeable DCU contingent here if any of you know if there are any soccer players (DCU/Darts/Dips/Whips/others) gracing that wall display.

Sought out a site with the entire list, but have thus far come up empty.

Thanks for any help and best wishes for a new pitch and 2008.

It's not a Wall of Fame, but the Hall of Stars. Previously, they had been on large placards placed around the frontispieces of the upper deck at RFK, but have been consolidated on a big banner. I wouldn't be surprised if it is hung in the new Nationals Park somewhere.

And TOTC's link to the wiki provides your answer...

Panel 13: Soccer player Theodore "Ted" Chambers (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ted_Chambers&action=edit), soccer player and coach Gordon Bradley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon_Bradley),

I'd forgotten one of my childhood heros is there: Gil Hodges.

And someone who I've also seen play: Frank Howard.

Plus one hell of a lot of my 'over the hill gang' favorites.

However, my current heroes now have names like Gomez and Emilio. How times change :)

Apparently wikipedia is wrong.

There is no "Theodore Chambers".

There is a James T. "Ted" Chambers, soccer coach at Howard University.

I don't know if this is the person on the walk of fame.

Thanks TOTC, seahawkdad, AMERICANS SC for the quick and informative responses. Curiosity now well satisfied. Conspicuous by his absence is Whips' owner Earl Foreman. Deservedly absent, IMO!

I recall "Ted" Chambers as soccer coach and AD at Howard during the '70s. He built the team into a national power, although he used a line-up entirely of foreign players.

Hmm. Chuck Hinton (he had a stint with the Tribe), but no Charlie Gogolak? LOL.
