Nice win for the boys today.

A bit of nitpicking here.....

What is the sense of putting an (R) in the thread title if the "thumbs up" symbol is used to preface the thread?

If you're gonna blow the game result, just come right out and do it.. It's not like this game was televised nationally... :p

Very sweet victory. Unfortunately I'm still not back in TX, otherwise I definitely would've been at the game.

2 wins this week, I like....

Nice win, fun to watch.

Favorite part is tough to call, but I'd have to say it was the O'Brien/Suarez celebration. Couple of Dr. Evil fans? Gotta love it!

Nice birthday gift for Oscar, he deserves it.

Oh, BTW, still hate Stoichy.

And Kovalenko for that matter. Hehe, damn Bulgarian almost stole the game with his cheating. I was their yelling my lungs out and it was worth it, what a SWEET victory. 4 points behind the Quakes (as of now), keep em coming.

Huge quandry for Jefferies. How can you justify keeping O'Brien off the pitch, while justifying taking Vaca off. Both are playing sublime.

I was wondering the same thing myself, but actually the substitution strategy Jeffries is using now is pretty effective.

Start Vaca at right mid and play a good-ball control offense, patiently wear down the opponent, and hopefully pick up a goal or two.

But if Vaca tires and/or a little extra offensive punch is needed, pull Joselito out and send in super-sub Ronnie.

O'Brien's speed and 1 on 1 skill really make him a dangerous player off the bench late in the game when the opponents are starting to tire out.

Sweet...the nector of the Gods to taste the victory over the evil Fire. I'm drinking myself into a stupor right now.

Justice prevails after being taunted by both Hristo and Dema "I'm a moron all day" Kovalenko (and I don't give a crap if I spelled his name wrong).

Guys, I'm in a quandry. Should I celebrate the Brimstone Cup leg II victory with Crown Royal, Patron tequila, or a Tanqueray martini? It's just so hard to choose!

Wait until you see the post game locker room reports. My oh my, did Fire want to win this one.
The Burn players took the Brimstone Cup into the locker area after the game to get a close look at it. From Veronica's hands to mine, then to the team, then out to the tailgate where we drank the beer drink of victory out of it.

And if you were wondering, the 15 goon fans that drove or flew down did not come to our post-game tailgate, and I hope every mile back hurts.

Isn't the Brimstone Cup based on both regular season games and playoff games?

Although it's certainly unlikely to happen, the Burn/Fire series could end up tied at 2 games apiece should Chicago sweep Dallas in the playoffs.

Apparently common sense finally prevailed and the Cup was awarded at the end of the regular season series.

And whoever mentioned O'Brien's celebration, I was about to start a whole thread on it. What was that? First he pulled his shorts up thong style and capered about for a few steps, then morphed into the funky chicken! I hope he keeps scoring because I can't wait to see what happens next time.

Loved watching Suarez shut down Beasley all game too.

Boy did the ref really miss the Stoichov call. That guy just flat out dove. He did not earn that free kick. Anyway, another nice win for the Burn. Vaca was absolutely tremendous and his replacement, ROB, was just as fabulous. What a sweet victory. My throat is sore from screaming at that Ukranian assassin Kovalenko. The Burn have righted themselves nicely since that mini slide(it coincided with my vacation I might add). To beat the goons from Chicago is so sweet. Words can not adequately describe my feelings. For all the Burn fans who did not make the game, your loss. The weather was perfect considering the time of year. Let's keep the ball rolling.

Maybe I am a little confused about the playoff structure, but if the Chicagoons are in the eastern conference and the Burn in the western the only possibility for them to play again this season would be in the final which is one game, and even if the 'goons would win the Burn would still be up 2-1?

Sorry, a little confusion and a long run-on sentance. But someone clear this up for me.

Although MLS went back to using conferences this year, they didn't go back to the old playoff setup previously used.

This year the two conference champs get seeded 1 and 2, and then the remaining 6 clubs are seeded based on points alone.

So it's possible for the Burn to face Chicago in either the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs in a first-to-5 series.

I can't think of a better way to spend a beautiful Saturday afternoon than watching the Fire BURN.

They acted like they did'nt no how to play on a real field.

Nice to see ESPN finally acknowledge that Dallas still has a team. THey've been on a grand total of two times now. Maybe if they palyed San Jose every week we could see them play.

Sore spot really. I want to follow the Burn (I'm from 25 miles form McKinney originally) but I live in Hawaii now. I can follow Liverpool a lot easier than I can Dallas. Pathetic. I got burned with the Shoot Out package once, so that will never happen again. The tema and the league should really address this issue. Make the teams more accesible to fans.

Rant over. Nice win.

if someone wants to help me tell the Fire fans that they weren't louder than us at the game, it would be most appreciated, on their boards, don't troll because Dustin will get mad, just tell them to shut up. If you want to w/e. Supposely Ty was saying how Chicago was in more control than the Burn and Ronnie needs to get a new celebration. wow could they kiss the Fire's ass anymore? it's bad enough they're on every week.

Or be civil. Or just let it go. Frankly, that's the Chicago fans' place and I don't think that they'll appreciate any Burn fan coming in with their guns blazing. I know that you all wouldn't be too happy if they did the same here.

Of course they're going to be homers for their team and their fans. It's their job.

Ty's a dope. That game was a perfect illustration as to why Chicago is sitting where they are. They can string a few really nice moments together, but they have had bad finishing and bad defensive breakdowns. It was also an illustration of why the Burn is sitting where they are. Good, but not great, defense and making the most of their opportunities.

Suarez had a good game but there is no way he shut down Beasley all game. Suarez may have controlled Beasley at times but Beasley still looked dangerous all game.
