Ugh! Had to be one of the worst Celtic games I've seen.

Turgid attacking, no creativity, no finishing.

How well does Shawn Maloney have to play to get regular first-team football? He was the only spark of life out there besides...

Liam Miller. Haven't seen much of him before. I was pretty impressed.

Laursen was, to use a quaint Iowa expression, as useful as tits on a boar. How long, oh Lord, how long until MO'N abandons the 3-5-2 at least for games against top-flight competition such as Man U. I mean does the man really expect to be able to start Balde-Vargas-Laursen in the back and be able to keep out Van Nistelroy and Solskaar (sic)?

The supporters waited in vain for any significant action on the transfer market this summer. That lack of ambition made itself remarkably clear last night.

While it wasn't the best match vs Man U, let's hope the Bhoys rally with a huge effort against Boca!

Regarding Maloney- once he regains form he will probably get a good look from M O'N.

Laursen's performance reminded me of watching Princeton in the NCAA tourney. He got backdoored all day. I still think Maloney should always play behind the front two. He's better than what we have now (nothing). And he's young. Strikers are easier to find, and we have lots of them now. If a creative midfielder is hard to come by (which is the impression Celtic Park is putting off), then why not use Maloney. He can already do the job decently, and he's young enough to be groomed for the position. And he's free.

Now Lambert says, "There's no need to panic!";

Hey cman,
Just got a question for you. Does the Busted Lift serve a decent pint of the black stuff? And do they show any Celtic or other football matches?

:D

Yes -- the only decent pint for 100 miles in any direction.

I'm not sure. -- they just opened up some new space with a TV. I tried to call down on Monday to see if they have Fox Sports World on whatever class of cable service they've signed up for but Jim never called back. At the end of the day, I just loafed on my couch. But I'll try to get something started for the fall.

Where are you, Platteville?

That's good to know, my brother, a friend of ours and myself will be heading down sometime later this summer or early fall to go to the track and then we're heading to the Busted Lift to see if they do as good of a pint as their website says they do. I also want to see if the pub has an "Irish Pub" feel to it.
Actually I'm currently living in Madison, but I'm from a small town 40 miles north of Platteville.

I'll correct my punctuation on my previous post. I meant to say this: That's good to know. My brother, myself and a friend of ours. I wasn't calling you "my brother" cman. Just to clarify.

It's okay to admit it man. The beautiful game makes brothers of all of us.

But seriously, before you make town PM me. I'll stand you and your brothers, friends, and assorted hangers on a beer.

Will do cman, thanks for the offer. Like I said in an earlier post, it probably won't be for a month or so. I'm heading out to LA on Saturday to see Man Yoo vs. club America, and also to go to the HDC to see LA-CLB, and also I'm going to the MLS All-star game. I've got a ManU/Celtic supporting friend(he's from Scotland) out there and I'll be staying with/going to the matches with him. We will also be hitting some local British pubs out there.
