In Garber's State of the League address, he talked about the Mets' owners vision including a stadium that would be used year-round. Does this suggest to anyone else, besides me, that it would probably be FieldTurf?
If so, what do you think about this?
Considerations.
Are New York fans too discerning for this choice? With so many entertainment options and New York fans being well-educated and demanding, would people still support a New York City club if they played on FieldTurf? Would many choose to make the trek to Harrison for a gorgeous stadium where the game is played, as intended, on a beautiful grass pitch? If you build it in NYC, will they come regardless of whether the ownership creates a soccer club based more on a desire for profit than doing soccer right? Would the same reasons that soccer fans shun the Metros and Red Bulls apply to the new club if we saw that they were creating a poor product?
