With loads of pace, very nice on the ball....WTF were Sunderland thinking by leaving him on the bench last season?
His goal with the outside of the foot tonight was a beauty. A great find for ManU!!!

Bellion wore the number 9 shirt tonight. Any chance this'll be his permanent number?

Another 5 performances like tonight, and maybe so.

I'm just waiting for the official squad numbers to be announced. So hopefully soon i'll be rocking my #9 David Bellion customized/hero shirt.

Kelly Vargas:
I dunno, I think the symetry would be great. One home-grown player taking over the #7 from another... as opposed to a spoiled import.
Fletcher didn't get his name called too much today, but I hope he ends of up good enough to take the #7.

i totally agree..i would much rather see a player move up our ranks to wear it.. maybe it just took me by surprise that he was wearing it although im sure he will get another number for the season.

Yeah, he looked really good, reminded me a little bit of Henry. But let's keep our heads here and remind ourselves that it's only one game -- and a friendly at that. He still has much to prove.

the numbers were a bit strange in the game like for instance ricardo had number 1 which i dont get. I saw somebody say that there are rumors that bellion could get the number 9 and if he keeps on like this he will.
But with fletcher wearing 7, bellion 9 and ricardo 1 you shouldnt take it too seriously

United have some great prospects - remember the youth FA Cup.
There are some good young players.
Fletcher
Richardson
etc
We will just have to see how they progress, as with Bellion, who had a lot of time out with injury. One game against Celtic, doesnt make him a star, he took his goal well, you cant ask for more than that. Interesting display and promising. Everyone says he needs to improve his touch and control. He could be a hell of a player with his pace if his control improves.

One thing is for sure... he has what it takes physically to get the job done, we will have to wait to see how he responds under the rigors and pressure of playing for SAF... Also how he will gel with the team... his pace could be a real weapon, but only if its used properly...

the youth cup was won last season here is the team that won it
steele (gk)
Lee simms-paul mcshane-phil bardsley-lee lawrence
chris eagles-dave jones-kieran- ben collett
eddie johnson- Timm
sylvain blake (striker) also played some games hes 17 i think
United are now in the final in the most prestigious youth tournament the milk cup in n-ireland and i think the stars have been blake, mcshane, tom heaton (gk), floribert (new signing from anderlecht a cb) and Markus Neumayr a creative midfielder signed from eintracht http://www.nimilkcup.org/app/DisplayLatestNews.asp?ArticleID=790&SectionID=63

Exactly. Plus we have to remember that history is full of players with talent who could use it quite well at lower levels but could never translate that talent into success in the premeirship.

So true... tonnes of great talent... i think there is a name for when someone dominates at lower levels but becomes mediocre at high levels... yes... i think it is called promoted to the level incompetance or something like that...

Oh well. He didn't look nearly as fluential on the pitch as he did against Celtic. Still did OK, I guess. We'll have to wait and see, as it's a bit tough to gauge our performance against a Mexican team...

That is being kind. He seemed bereft of ideas and unaware that he was sharing the pitch with 1o teammates.
