Hey, I have a question, and it's 100% serious one, so don't take it the wrong way. It's about the DR birth certificates. Remember five years ago or so there was this Dominican kid on the Bronx Little League team, who looked much older, and played much better baseball than he should for his age? There was a question of a forged birth certificate, and a huge uproar about cheating, but I had some Dominican friends, who said that in the DR you never really know what a person's real age was becasue their birth certificates are issued many years after a kid is actually born. So my question is: is that true? and does anyone in DR rally know what someone's age is? Or is it VERY easy to forge a birth certifictate from the DR? I am asking this both as a sports fan, and someone who is an immigration lawyer and has to deal with people with different backgrounds with different laws...thanks!

Dear lawyer

It was like that in the past. Now, its differente and forging a birth certificate could send you to jail for a couple years. This was more common in the countryside where people did not have the means to go the the city and get a birth certificate. We know a lot of cases of baseball players who pay money to reduce their ages in order to obtain a more lucrative contract witha major league team. The same happens in south america, central america and africa with soccer players. All i know is that the dominican office of vital records is doing a much better job. I know that a couple of years ago, some people went to jail for doing just that with birth certificates.

Considering the possibilities of a new MLS team in NYC. Are you considering switching teams?

Good question, If they name the new team "The Metrostars", i probably go with it. I love that name. I will continue to fight for that name. Many of us were upset. I think the current team should be called. "Redbulls Metros" at the very least.
