What a great time to be working part-time. I'll be there crazy early...

Looks like I am blowing all my holiday money on Moose's old stuff (I'm 5'4, so whatever fits him should fit me).

I couldn't decide whether to take off a half day for this sale or to work a whole day & leave after work.

I decided to compromise and take the whole day off. :)

The Flying Dutchman, Brigadoon, and DCU equipment sales...all figments of the imagination.

This does not exist, people. Remain in your homes and await further instruction while I clean out my trunk to fit gobs of fictional DCU swag therein.

As he types that on his Blackberry from the front of the line

Seriously - anyone have any idea how they are doing the number system this year? If they are handing out numbers at 7AM and the sale isn't until 5PM there is no way I am spending all day in DC.

It looks like they will hand out numbers at 3pm to the first one hundred in line for entry at 5pm...and everyone else just stays in line till their turn. Of course, by the way people talk around here you might have to get in line at 7am to be in the first one hundred.

I'm pretty sure that no one will be there at 7am.

UNITED FOR D.C.TOY DRIVE UPDATE:
We collected a nice chunk of toys for United For D.C.'s drive at the Happy Hour last night. Again, these toys are going to Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton's annual party for underprivilged kids which will be Dec 18. A woman from her office who organizes that event stopped by the happy hour last night. She mentioned that they try to collect 500 toys (some go for the party, some go to kids who are at abused women shelters who can't come to the party for their own protection and then some individual families come in to the Congresswomen's office who have needs). Along with toys they also give out some clothing and some gift cards. The kids who come to the party are from several service organizations in Ward 8 and then there's a HUGE group from Adams Morgan (91 kids, not all of them can come because they don't have room).

United for D.C. will be putting out a box to collect more unwrapped new toys at the Equipment sale on Friday so if you're coming please consider bringing a toy with you. I found some name brand toys at CVS for $10 so you don't need to spend a fortune. For some purchasing guidelines, I was told they can always use more toys for boys and the age ranges at the party are from little ones to about age 13. If you get a doll for a girl, keep in mind that many of the recipients are African American and Latino so white blonde Barbie isn't the most appropriate. If you have questions you can contact United for D.C.
