I only saw him play at the U20 WC in '05, but he looked very good in my eyes. Perhaps a player DC would be interested...certainly likely to be at home with DC's style of play, young, a yank (yeah!)...I remember more possession/ball skills than our typical U20 forward.

This is great!!! A young talented american wants to play in MLS! Teams should be fighting to get him. He probably wouldn't be asking for too much money so it shouldn't be hard to sign him.

Can you say "weighted lottery?" Guess who's going to get him, if this happens? (Hint: It won't be DC United.)

If he can't get into the Tecos squad, is he really worth all the trouble?

I don't know, haven't seen him much and not in a while...but just because a player has trouble getting games at one particular club doesn't mean they're not good...there could be any number of reasons (Twellman couldn't get a sniff of the first tema in Germany, if you recall). And it's not like you'd be looking to bring him in to replace Emilio, you'd be bringing him in to replace Addlery, Kpene, or Dyachenko.

What exactly would be the 'trouble' anyway? Scouting him? Bringing him in for a trial maybe? DCU gives that treatment to a dozen or more guys a year who don't get offered spots.

He's been in contact with Sigi in Columbus, the coach of the U-20's in '05.

Exactly. He'd be handled the same way Robbie Rodgers was...a weighted lottery for which we have no chance.

Is he playing much with their B Team?

I assume Tecos has a team in the lower divisions to develop talent but maybe only some clubs do. Anyway teams like Chivas de Guadalajara routinely bring up players from their "cantera" sides.

Doesn't sound like Ochoa would be available til mid season. Who knows what our depth at forward will look like then.

I'm in favor of us entering weighted lotteries. There's no penalty attached to entering and not winning is there?

Still think we should have got into the Robbie Rogers draft (if I recall correctly, we didn't enter). Teams can also use allocations to claim a player and bypass the need for a lottery, can't they?

I don't think you can enter the next lottery, but other than that, no penalty.

Actually, I'm pretty sure I'm wrong... MLS is confusing

I think we were in for the Rodgers lottery. We just had no chance of winning it.

SO is probably goiing to sign a crappy Deveplomental contract with the MLS (if they will take him, it will probably be low $$$ ) and then go to the weighted lottery for whatever teams decide to take a shot.
