Any word on attendance for Sunday. I am hearing about 800 from the new england supporters. How many will Housotn bring? And how many people will actually be in the stadium? What will the annouced attendance be? Whats the weather forecast? Finally don't bash New England. We have held 3 cups up here.

MLSCUP I... 38K in a monsoon.
MLSCUP III... 48K in November and 80 Degrees
Both of which had no NEW ENGLAND IN THE PLAYOFFS

MLSCUP 2002.... 62K. New England Present in the final.

I'm sure this will get merged into one of the other two or three threads on this topic, but...

You will notice a commonality between MLS CUP I (1996) and MLS CUP IV (1999).

SO DO US A FAVOR... we rooted for you up in new england for those two... you root for the Revs in DC this weekend.

You gotta be kidding?

After Rusty Pierce's no-contact simulation dive got Marco tossed from the '01 U.S. Open Cup; after Shalrie Joseph kicked Moreno in the guts about 10 seconds into the '04 conference final; after Reis kneed Esky in the head in '05; after Dempsey's mocking home-run swing; after Coach Nicol's unsportsmanlike rants about the refs every single time we win; after Joseph elbowed Jaime in the mouth last year, just a minute after Heaps bulldogged Jaime to the ground, after Brad Feltcher's tirade about D.C. fans last year, you think I'm gonna support the whiniest, dirtiest, most boring team MLS has ever produced.

Now, I'm not saying, if you consider a team for half a season, that one of those Cobi Jones Galaxy teams wasn't more hateable--maybe the edition with Ruiz and Serna and Kirovski. But for sustained dirty tactics, ass-hat coachery and boring, Route 1 football, the Jay ("sorry 'bout the 'accidental' knee to the head, Juan Pablo") Heaps' edition of the Revs is the most odious MLS team I can think of.

And lets look at the Jay Heaps' New England Revolution regulation-time numbers in big playoff games and CCC.

2002 MLS Cup: 0-0
2003 MLS Eastern Conf. final: 0-0
2004 MLS Eastern Conf. final: 3-3
2005 MLS Eastern Conf. final: 1-0
2005 MLS Cup: 0-0
2006 CONCACAF Champions Cup #1: 0-0
2006 CONCACAF Champions Cup #2: 0-1
2006 Eastern Conf. final: 1-0
2006 MLS Cup: 0-0
---------
this year, so far
______________
2007 Eastern Conf. semi. #1: 0-0
2007 Eastern Conf. semi. #2: 1-0
2007 Eastern Conf. final: 1-0

Your coach is killing the pro U.S. soccer game, and if he ever wins a Cup final, every new MLS coach will be hired in Nicol's image--the end of "sexy" football before it had a chance to plant its first french kiss--and every team will be molded after yours--Columbus will replace Schelotto with Khano Smith's cousin. Kids will grow up idolizing Jay heaps. Steam will pour out of my ears, causing the polar caps to melt even faster.

And have you seen Bob Gansler's latest newsletter? He says your team plays boring soccer.

40k announced, 25k scattered around?

I'll be there, although I wouldn't say I'm pumped up about it. But I want to support the league, just like I did in 2000.

I think what you meant to say, since Iraq are supposed to be our friends now, is the Iran national team...

..a contest that would leave me quite conflicted :D

There will be at least 40k announced. I'm guessing it will be mid-30s in actual attendance unless it rains or is really cold, in which case mid-20s will be right.

Mighty!

Thank God the NFL moved the Redskins from 1 to 4.... and that the Skins will be unwatchable Sunday.

But I think we need to bear in mind who the ticket holders are Sunday. Many are United fans that have these seats because of plans or promotions (tons from the Beckham package). There will be lots of no shows. And right now on eBay there are hundreds on offer and not too many high bids.

You, sir, have been reported to the Department of Homeland Security. Not too smart to pick a fight with fans based in your nation's capital.

Have fun at Gitmo, and make sure to wear all your "Revolution" gear at the processing center.
