Well, let's start this off. Name the ex-Rover that is being highlighted here. A gift will be presented to the winner, although s/he must come to Canada to collect it!!

"I was a Rover, I was. I niggled and naggered and genuinely got on me opponents' right nerves. I may not be the biggest man on the pitch (nor the fastest, nor the bestest), but me mouth more than makes up for that!! Although my point was always to get me side some points, I rarely did that to be sure. Yet I tried. Och! I tried. I did serve me purpose and got quite a few of me adversaries in the book and even off to the tunnel before the 90 was up. I love the shops in Manchester (been shopping there a few times), though you would never catch *me* playing for the enemy. Nowadays, I'm visiting at the Palace, hoping that 'Er Majesty might knight me. Fat chance o' that! I was a Rover, I was. Who am I?"

I would have said Kuqi, but he was a giant. I'm tempted to say Kevin Gallagher, but that's only a guess, really.

can scotsmen be knighted?

Yeah.

I believe Sean Connery is a Sir.

Even Pele has an honourary Knighthood, but you have to be a citizen of a Commonwealth country to actually be referred to as, "Sir."

Yep, and you can even be a strong supporter of Scottish independance and still get knighted a la Sir Sean Connery.

Looks like we both replied at the same time and picked the same example.

Good to know that Canadians can be knighted - there's a chance for me. Although I suppose I'd still have to accomplish something first.:D

Probably helps that you're not English. It's actually politically incorrect to be English in England, although I think you can get that waived if you sign a form apologising for being English.

Erm ... I'll shut up now ;)

I'm a little late to the party but Paul Dickov is my guess as well...

My guess? Half of the 2004 Rovers team. Also, most of Rovers' midfielders, keepers, and backs for the last decade.

The answer is Pauly Dickov.

Hints: Dickov played for Man City from 1996 - 2002. He was then at Leicester for a bit, before becoming a Rover in 2004. And, of course he returned to Man City in 2006, but he is currently on loan to Crystal Palace.

The prize is a kilo of Canadian bacon, a bag of fiddle heads, and some maple syrup, and can be picked up in Halifax, Canada -- sorry, no mail-outs!! So, come on over and pick it up, when convenient.

Our joint winners: BlackburnRover and Hypo-Luxa. <APPLAUSE>

Who wants to be next in setting up our next ex-Rover???

It's a tasty baby fern that is harvested in the spring in Eastern Canada and New England. Usually, it is steamed and dressed with butter, vinegar, salt and pepper (like spinanch or swiss chard). The name comes because it looks like the head of a fiddle.

Who am I?

I played for Rovers a few years back, now. I've played at Newcastle, Sheffield United and Leicester, and I have eyebrows like the guy from American Beauty who sells weed to Kevin Spacey.

Keith Gillespie is my guess -- he's played for all of the above and has *striking* :D eyebrows.
