Don't all you big man utd fans, and those of you who know about the soccer business, think man utd's boss fergie should take advantage of Francesco Totti being available for basically any decent offer? Roma's broke, and just like all italian teams, is forced to sell any player as long as they get back whatever they paid for him (in this case 0).
Let's face it, is the only footballer who can give United the international pressence David Beckham did; or United will be doomed to start loosing money (they can't sell jerseys without Becks, you can even tell by the fact that Beckham black jerseys, a jersey he will never use, are being offered by manutd.com, and selling quite well in Asia).
So with Totti, United will regain marketing power, not to mention get a much better footballer than beckham ever was.
PLEASE VOTE.

No. He's a good player, but I don't think he fits into our plans.
And it's not our club who buys players just to sell jerseys.

I think Totti would be great, but who are we kidding? There's no interest there.

GGGGGgooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllll Tttttttoooottttiiiiiiii
Totti is a quality player, who I would buy, but since I dont control Man Utd which may be a good thing I doubt it would happen. Its not a good idea to buy players to sell shirts, we no dead weight.

I'm not saying that Totti will only be there to sell jerseys (this is not Real Madrid).
Totti is a great footballer, and in midfield, one of the top 3 in the world. He has leadership, scores many goals, and his playing style is perfect to hook Scholes and Butt to Ruud!!!
It makes sense on the field, because as a footballer, let's face it, he is better than David Beckham!!
I just mention the jerseys, because that's something they lost big time with the sale of Becks, and Totti is the only other player with that added value.
BUT TOTTI IS GREAT, AND IS THE GUY THAT THEY NEED BOTH ON AND OFF THE PITCH!! (IMAGINE HIM NEXT TO V. NISTELROOY, PLEASE!)

Totti would be awesome to see at Old Trafford. He would be an excellent link, and he's more experienced than Ronaldinho and just as good. But why should we get our hopes up? Roma is not about to let their one consistent player go, and if they did, it would be for more than Ronaldinho, I'm sure.

"Goal Totti" used to be on the intro to an Italian football programme, sounded really cool.

I'm going to be controversial here, and say that Totti is over rated. You can do better than him and buy someone like Makaay for example.

Totti would be especially useful on free kicks.

Totti is one of the best... But because he plays two different positions, and is not afraid to take a team on his shoulder. He plays a creative center midfield (not in the italia national team, becuase there's Del Piero), or striker.
That's why he's so great, he can do anything, he even became goalkeeper on one game.
Now, for example Makaay. He's not a leader, he needs to get the ball from someone else, he plays dead center forward, he would colide with Ruud, and he is not in for big teams, he is a little team kind of pleayer.
Totti cannot be overated, simply because of the stats, and the fact that he's even benched Del Piero and Baggio in the national team.
They could go to Nihat and Kovacevic, as I post in the other thread (check it out)...

If i were a man u fan i wouldnt even dream about winning the champions league after the Ronaldinho dissapointment. I would also be expecting another "fight to the finish" for the english title
Spanish and italian teams and their rosters are just too much for Man U and you saw that last year when man u faced real madrid. Man U didnt buy anyone significant to be happy about.

Hello? Remember what we did to Juve in Turin? Or Real in the 2nd leg? We can compete, but we can't dominate consistently with the current squad.
In my opinion, we have just as much chance of winning the CL as last year. I give us 1 chance in 3 or 4 right now.

Don't forget, losing out on Ronaldinho means Man U is likely to keep Veron. And Veron showed in CL last season the same thing he showed at Lazio, the ability to dominate Italian teams. And, as was pointed out, Man U beat Juventus rather handily in Turin. But then again, there is no better away goal scorer in the world than Ryan Giggs ... who in case you haven't noticed, is returning.
It has nothing to do with Italian teams or Spanish teams, it was just that Real Madrid is grossly superior to everyone else. They focused on Man U and finished. They far underestimated Juventus, and Juventus in desperation broke from their catenaccio routine and mercilessly attacked a weak and unprepared Madrid defense. Juventus understood that you cannot "beat" Madrid playing sound soccer, you need to try to outscore them, and last season Madrid's defense was weak enough to allow it to happen. If Madrid plays Juventus 10 times, I'd bet Madrid wins 7. IMHO, if Juventus had played Madrid before Man U did, then Juventus would have been watching the final on their TV's. I think Man U was second best only to Madrid last year, and Juventus was ... well ... lucky.

The current result of the pole is interesting, Totti has just over 40%, which means the majority dont want him.
He would be a great buy. But as much as I would like to see him at OT, it wil not happen, great pity!
He will cost a lot.
Del Piro doesnt seem the player he once was. Klebson deal is not done yet. Speculation is fun isnt it?
Goal Totti!!!

If Roma decide to sell Totti there is only one club he would go to. And that club is Milan. Why? First of all, Totti will not leave Italy because he doesn't want to see his place in the Italian national team vanish. Something Nesta thought of when he chose Milan last year. Nesta rejected Real Madrid because he didn't want to leave Italy. And of all the Italian clubs Totti has the most admiration for Milan. Plus, Berlusconi would do anything to get him to Milan.

yes Real scored 3 goals on man u when man u couldnt allow any to have a chance of going to the next phase. The second part of your post is true.

So Ronaldinho would've prevented the goals we gave up then? I mean, you wrote that without signing him we couldn't compete with Italian or Spanish clubs, and we clearly can score on anybody... It was purely a lack of experience by our back line in the Real match (with a bit of dodgy goalkeeping mixed in) that kept us from advancing. We can be right there again this year with our current squad. Another signing can only help, and Real hasn't done much to improve their own defence either.
