How many new points do you think Pinto has to pick up in these two games for him to keep his job? I say at least 3 (one win). anything less he has to go. after the Argentina game we don't play until June 2008 (Peru) which gives us plenty of time to get a new coach.

i no everyone wants him out but I think his place is pretty much set in stone unless we lose by alot the next 2 games. I think we should get at least 4 points or im going to be upset but 3 is my mimium

Why would you think his place is set in stone? He did good against Brazil and Bolivia but do you think we should still have him as coach if we end up losing 1-0 to both Venezuela and Argentina? Besides the two games against Brazil and Bolivia Pinto has not done too good with the NT and plz dont bring up friendlies.
Pinto must win against Venezuela and hopefully in a convincing manner against Argentina well i can only hope it goes as it did against Brazil.

I think Pinto is doing a good job so far, but the game against Venezuela is critical. If he does not get 3 points, it is far from over (remember last time we had the worst start ever and almost made it), but we need that win to prove that we are contenders and that we are really above the third tier of countries. However I think that two ties will help him hold the ship. Only two catastrophic defeats will make him lose his job at this point.
In the next few rounds, we also need to get results against Peru and Ecuador, to draw the line between the bottom of the confederation and the middle class.

After these two games and if others make just the local points then WCQ will look like this:
Brazil:10 points.
Argentina: 10 (if at least we tie that game).
Paraguay: 7 points.
Chile: 6 points
Uruguay: 6 points
Venezuela: 6 points
Ecuador: 3 points
Peru: 1 point
Bolivia: 1 point
So we must beat Venezuela and at least tie Argentina, that way we would be in 4th place with 6 points tied with Chile, Uruguay and Venezela, otherway we will be in trouble; We cannot let the 3rd place take distance.
About Pinto I think if we don't get these points all depends in how the team plays...

MANTENER EL ARCO EN ZERO ES MUY Importante

If he would have gotten the 3 points in Bolivia he would be ok but he didn't. We NEED 3 points at least from these 2 games otherwise we are in big trouble. We can't expect to qualify if we don't earn maximum points at home. The Argentina game is gonna be tough but we have to get at least 1 point, it is a home game. If we tie against Venezuela and lose against Argentina he better be gone the next day.

The good thing is that Argentina will play in La Pax and then the next day go to Bogota, where they will play 3 days later. Hopefuly, they will be so dizzy by the altitude that they can be managable, the true test will be when we play them in el Monumental, home of Falcao Garcia and stadium that was never even touched by Leo Messi....

About this post:
1. They're comming down from 3600 mts to 2600 mts. After La Paz, Bogota will feel like Buenos Aires in winter, not bad for them. If it was from Maracaibo or Lima it would be a different story.
2. Against Argentina altitude (at least 2600 mts) have not helped us. Just hope Julio do not make some mistake a la Cordoba... Wooops, just jinxed him.

I highly doubt that going from one high altitude and forcing your body to play in such a condition for 90+ minutes and then a couple of days later going to another location that is still higher than most of the places the Argentine's play (cuidado, ellos no es que juegan en Argentina) is still a benefit or normal process for a footballer.
Trust me, trips like that over different measures of high altitude have an effect on the body.

I think this discussion is pointless, since they're playing in Buenos Aires against Bolivia...

Then what jevoman says is correct, they'll be tired (how tired can they be of playing against Bolivia) from the game and the trip, so you'll think they'll be a little more vulnerable.
and Pepino, Colombia is hardly EL PAPA of Argentina:
Colombia 1:3 (0:1) Argentina BOGOTA, 2/6/85
Argentina 1:0 (1:0) Colombia BUENOS AIRES, 16/06/1985
Colombia 2:1 (1:0) Argentina BARRANQUILLA, 15/8/93
Argentina 0:5 (0:1) Colombia BUENOS AIRES, 5/9/93
Colombia 0:1 (0:1) Argentina BARRANQUILLA, 12/2/97
Argentina 1:1 (0:1) Colombia BUENOS AIRES, 16/11/1997
Colombia 1:3 (1:2) Argentina BOGOTA, 29/06/2000
Argentina 3:0 (3:0) Colombia BUENOS AIRES, 3/6/01
Colombia 1:1 (0:1) Argentina BARRANQUILLA, 19/11/2003
Argentina 1:0 (0:0) Colombia BUENOS AIRES, 30/03/2005
2 Wins, 2 Draws and 6 losses. Our last win was, guess when....

For some reason I thought they were playing in La Paz, but I guess not. Well better yet, they are going up to our altitude. I can't believe the last time we beat them in a WCQ was in the famous 5-0. I know we have beaten them in other things, like the 3-0 in the Copa America, but wow, it's been that long since we defeated them on route to the WC?
