A team of the most under rated players in the world. Players who are the very best quality, but for some reason don’t get the attention and world reputation. Every player I have named is quality, and may even have a big asking price, but some players just don’t seem to be regarded as high as they should, by those outside their club.
Harper
G. Neville Pique , Woodgate , Matty Taylor.
Bentley Parker Guti Pedersen
Cahill
Derbyshire
Subs: Brown, Dunne, Nolan, Crouch ,Arteta, P.Neville. Savage, Bale
It would be a great side as well. I have gone with Cahill as I think Arteta is maybe starting to get the credit he deserves but still not a lot, it is exactly the same with Barry of Villa.
Who do you think is the most under rated in that team and in your opinion who is not there, that is under rated?

I'm using 'underrated' loosely here, to refer also to players who are occasionally properly regarded but not nearly often enough...

IMO and many other peoples, Ribery, van Persie and Klose are certainly not underrated...Ribery was bought for 17 million, thats certainly not underrated

My criteria is that they have to be playing fairly regularly...you cant have an underrated player who doesnt even play any games. Also they cant have been recognised with recent awards...such as UEFA GK of the year or have been in PFA team of the year

I'm not sure how many people you would find who would tell you that Klose is the best target man in the world and Ribery is at least top 3 as far as wingers go. They don't get such praise regularly, if ever, from outside of the Bayern camp. Van Persie to me would make it into an EPL all-star XI, most people wouldn't include him over the likes of Rooney, Tevez, Torres, etc...
Therefore, I consider all three underrated.

So you are trying to claim that if you don't make the XI of your league then you are underrated?

Well, if I think Van Persie has x amount of class, and the general footballing populace thinks he has x-5 amount of class, then based on my opinion of him, he's underrated.

What a laughable comment.
Firstly Klose isnt the best target man in the world and Ribery isnt the best in the top 3 wingers in the world. Just cause they arent the best in the world doesnt mean they are underrated

Um, you just proved my point. I think they ARE those things which I said they were (best target man/top 3 winger), and you just said they weren't. Therefore, I would be able to say that you are underrating them. And if I think they're the best in the world, and you and everyone else say they aren't, then based on my evaluation of them versus yours, they must be underrated.

It is hard to define an underrated player. I used to think Beckham was underrated because the soccer fans thought that he was just a pretty boy, but he was actually very good. I bet you 80% of the poster would think he is overrated.
I cannot come up with a Best XI. I am sure that i will have either Kameni, Freidel or Frey in goal. On defense, I will have Mertesacker and Kaladze. Ariel Ibagaza and Juan Arango will be on my midfield. Totti, who did not even get on the World Player of the Year ballot and should be considered underrated for that fact alone, will be my starting forward.

I think Hleb is very very underrated. Klose and Frings have just recently been getting credit but up to the WC, they were very underrated as well.

I think you misunderstood me...i was stating facts not my opinion
Target men
Drogba
Ibrahimovic (although more of a SS he sort of plays both)
Well he cant be top of that list...hes at most third
Wingers
Ronaldo
Messi
Ronaldinho
Silva
Jesus Navas
Giggs
Robben
Joaquin
These wingers are all better than him when they are playing

The majority of Evertons team. In Particular, Cahill, Arteta and Howard.

Mutu, Rocchi, Ledesma, Frey, Kaladze, Maicon, Cambiasso (everyone knows that he is good, but I would argue that he is one of the best DMs in the world), Julio Cruz, Pasquale Foggia, Nekounam, Guiza, Arango, Cristiano Lucarelli, Gianpaolo Pazzini, Francesco Flachi(isn't really that good nowadays, but he has never really been appreciated in the way that he deserves), Raul Tamudo, Torsten Frings, Marcell Jansen.
I would put Nery Castillo on the list if the Mexicans hadn't hyped the crap out of him. There are not many (non-mexicans, or at least Europeans) who actually know who he is.

You know, acting like your opinions are fact really does wonders for your credibility.

Im just stating which players have won more awards than Ribery despite his skill as those players are better

Again, I really think you're supporting my point. You're right, some of those players have won more awards than Klose and Ribery. The whole point of this thread is that awards and praise from the media do NOT determine a player's skill.
