Everton are ready to reward Joleon Lescott with a new contract following his impressive form since a £5million move from Wolves last year.
Manager David Moyes is keen to secure the 25-year-old defender on a five-year deal, after agreeing a similar deal with striker Andrew Johnson last week. Lescott is in the England squad to face Austria on Friday and Croatia next week.

Lets hope we get this signed ASAP. What a player.

Agreed.
Good nucleus of players tied up for 5 years.

Thank Christ, he's the one I was afraid was gonna move on to the likes of Chelsea and what not. But it seems Cahill and Arteta seem so be convincing the others this is the team to be for the next few years, Keep playing together, working for each other and see what can be done. I suspect another top 6 finish, a great UEFA cup run( I'm talking Quarters or Semis) and who knows in the league cup. Sign Pienarr in January if possible and we'll have some honest to god footballers on our hands for the next few years!! Neville is on contract til 2010, but lets hope Moysie brings in a replacement over the summer and sells him on or makes him a CCC(Carling Cup Captain).

We need to sign Pienaar and not make the same mistake we made with Fernandes.
I am going to put Lescott on my away shirt.

I feel Arteta would have already left, if he were going to go. If his goal is to play for his national side, I would have seen him off to Spain last year. As it is now, he has Moysie campaigning for him left and right, he seems to generally love the lads he plays with. With him, I know he would love to play for the Spanish team, but it doesn't seem to bother him he doesn't. He puts on a show on the pitch almost every week, there's nothing else he can do. Whereas Lescott is an Engish lad who i would think would love to win a premiership title, so him moving on wouldnt have surprised me as the (don't wanna say it) bigger the club the better the chance. But he has shown his loyaty and with this crop and maybe 2 or 3 more i see us challenging for the title in a year or two. Hope that made sense. If not, call my brain and ask for Andrew, he may be out for a bit. :D

I love having players who want to keep playing for us. This is a great credit to Moyes and Irvine and the coaching staff for creating an atmosphere. Players also know that the potential for great European nights in Nurnberg and Kharkiv are there. Hopefully, in the next years we can include Rome, Madrid, Berlin ( BIG ;) ) to this.

The guy is absolutely awesome. Annoying that Crouch got in the way of Lescotts goal against Austria :p that was destined for Joleons head and Crouch had to intervene!

Hmmm....check this out, seems like Arteta is now professing his love for Atletico Madrid:

It could be completely innocent, and no context is really given for the quote (was he simply asked where he would like to finish his career, or was he volunteering the info as a come-and-get-me hint?), so it's hard to tell. But quotes like this appearing conspicuously close to a transfer window opening make me anxious.
I'd really like to see his deal re-upped along with AJ and JL...

I'm pretty sure that Arteta already re-upped for five years. He's not going anywhere unless someone just offers us stupid silly money for him.
Say in the region of 20M GBP.

Goal.com article. (http://goal.com/en-us/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=482428) That article makes it sound like he was talking about finishing his career there. He's got 4 years after this one left on his contract and he said he'll "finish up there." Hopefully it's finish up and not run off for.

yeah he did sign a contract extension etc. so i really truly hope that he is not going anywhere. not even for crazy money.
it does sound very bare a story. it sorta sounds like an off the cuff add on to a conversation.
Mikel A "oh i love everton, it'd be great to finish up here"
scum "what if you were to finish somewhere else... what about somewhere like X club"
Mikel A "yeah they are a great club, it'd be great to finish there too"
as in can't say anything bad, as it were, about other clubs cos don't want to burn any bridges at all. I'm not too worried about him going anywhere, but i'll be super sad if he does :(
