Just to start something different, what players do you wish the Hammers had signed over the years? I am not talking about the obvious ones like Pele but the more realistic ones that actually played in the EPL or the old 1st division. Could see some interesting names come up. To start with my first 2 picks are:
Stan Bowles, at times this guy could walk on water, put him alongside Brooking and you would have seen some of the best football ever played.
Matt Le Tissier, a genius who never got the credit he deserved, like Bowles, should have played a lot more times for England.

Over the years, I always rated Boa Morte and thought he would be a great signing for us. An attacking midfielder with pace who could score you a goal and also wasn't afraid to get stuck in and make a few hard tackles.
I guess we just got him a few years too late though :(

I always admired Terry Butcher for his attitude and ability.
George Weah and Rudd Gullitt at their peak but I might be swerving away from the remit into fantasy land. At least I stopped short of Cruyff (Johan not Jordi).
Kanchelskis at his fleet footed peak.
Alan Shearer anyone?

I agree with Stomper. Both local lads. Wish a certain James Greaves had played for us when he was in his prime too. Another local that slipped through the net. We just had him at the tail end of his, all too short, career. Just an alcoholic then, that showed the odd touch of genius. Who else? Best and Charlton. Fancy seeing them line up with Moore, Peters, Hurst and Byrne.
