It would be great if in 5-10 years we had a three team NY rivalry. Cali has 3 teams,Texas has 2,why not 3 for NY?

Not a Rhinos fan but you guys have a good team, a good park, and a great fan base. I saw the Rhino's .vs. Revs game this past summer and the Rhinos played them real close. Anyway I wish you guys the best and hopefully when Philly gets a team in the MLS I will see the Rhino's more when they come to Philly.

If the stadium gets finished and out of financial trouble it's possible i suppose. I really can't see mls reaching out for a small market team with turf instead of grass. I suppose they could put grass in though. I could honestly say i'd go to more games if we were in mls.

its not just about the stadium, its being able to show that the team has a stable financial base and one which would be able to pay the obscene expansion fee. Roc and its fans deserve the MLS, but after Philly there will prolly be 4 more expansion teams or so over the next 10 years (can't see them going beyond 20 with the talent pool) and I don't know if Beckham vs. the Rhinos on MLS thursday night is what the league has in mind......its just a crappy situation for Rochester
I'm sure cities like StL, Portland, Vanc, NYC are all on the shortlist before ROC, despite having our own stadium........

Becks vs Rochester is a perfect setting. A megastar going into a small market that is rabid about its club. But 1st, the Stampede needs to be large like the Timbers Army (see their Youtube.com clips).

The potential new owner, Dan Williams, was on the radio last Saturday and talked about Rochester to MLS.
His take is that MLS wants to go to bigger media markets (St Louis, Miami, Atlanta, Vancouver, Montreal, etc.) and that he doesn't expect to Rochester to be on MLS' radar anytime soon.

Not much of a case can be made.
I love Rochester, but the opportunity for us has passed. The Rhinos are way, way, way down on the pecking order. If the league wants to go to 20 teams, then there are only 2 spots left in the Eastern division once Philly joins. It seems obvious that those will be 2 of the following 4: St. Louis, Montreal, Miami, or NYC.
Rochester had its chance 5-6 years ago. We had an established soccer tradition, a new stadium on the way, and an existing fan base. However, we didn't have an owner that wanted to splash the cash to get into MLS. Now the league has passed us by.

They're going to halt expansion after 18. Then, maybe in 25 years or so, there are talks about combining USL and MLS like the English leagues, with relegation and all that. Bu teams 17 and 18 are St. Louis (95% positively) and Montreal (with some competition from Miami, but it looks to be a wrap). Other cities that would be picked over Rochester are Portland, Vancouver, Atlanta, New York City, and Cleveland or Cincinatti. Sorry bro. It's not happening.

Rochester's best chance is most likely going to be buying a faultering franchise. KC maybe?

KC will be fine if their stadium deal gets done. Their attendance this year is looking bad because they are playing in a temporary home that is a minor league baseball park.
That won't last forever.

Why everybody hates on KC? Chivas are in a worst situation.
