OK. What should we expect out of this guy? Again, someone to kick around, or does he have some talent?

Gullit, in his day, was one of the best players in the world.
Glen Hoddle bought him for Chelsea in the mid nineties, when he was past his best and he performed okay. When Hoddle left (and became the Enlgand manager) Gullit became the Chelsea manager, and didn't do too badly. One notable thing he did at the time, was attract unlikely players to Chelsea, like Gianluca Vialli, who himself eventually became Chelsea's manager. In the end, though, Gullit was not good enough to maintain Ken Bates' expectations at Chelsea, and so was sacked, with Chelsea claiming that Gullit had asked for an extortionate pay rise.
He then went on to manage Newcastle, and his time there was even less successful than at Chelsea. He famously dropped Alan Shearer before the Tyne-Weir derby, in a, "no one is bigger than the club/show them who's boss," move, which backfired as Sunderland won the match on a rainy, horrible day. He was promptly sacked.
I don't know about his form managing Feyenoord, but as a pundit, he has a good head on his shoulders (unlike Jamie Redknapp). If the Galaxy's players know who he is, then they will surely respect him, and that has to be a very positive thing when a squad is looking for a charismatic leader.

Interesting. They are going to need more than just a good coach to even make the playoffs next year, but I hope that it at least brings them back to some sort of prominence. Beating them this year was like beating Tottenham this year.

I hope it doesn't do anything for them but drive them further and further into ruin. I hate them more than Houston.

I love Galaxy. It melts in your mouth. Smoother than most milk chocolate, and pricier too. You know you're buying quality.
I was thinking about supporting Dallasburn, because it sounds like Blackburn.

That's just someone ranting, as he freely proclaims.
Hullit will bring more star names to the team, and will be a man for the youngsters, and maybe even Franz Beckhambauer to look up to.

Hullit will bring more star names to the team,
the opposite of what any MLS team needs, especially them.
and will be a man for the youngsters,
the Galaxy have no youngsters.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Revelian, but the Dallas Burn changed their name to FC Dallas last year. Lots of people here in the US give them crap about the euro sounding name. If you ask me, it sounds great. However, they don't play in Dallas, they play in Frisco, which is half way to Oklahoma from Dallas. OK, that was slight sarcasm, but it would be like calling Blackburn, Manchester.

I agree, but they got it backwards - it should be Dallas F.C. IMO. F.C. Dallas makes more sense in a French-speaking country.

The most hilarious name, I reckon, is Real Salt Lake - obviously a steal from Real Madrid. Real means, "royal," in Spanish, apparently, but they don't speak Spanish in Salt Lake City, like they do in Texas, do they? This makes the choice of name laughable this side of the pond.

I like the more traditional Euro-sounding names (i.e. F.C. Dallas, DC United, Toronto FC, even Houston Dynamo to an extent) but not the ones that are blatant copies, like Real Salt Lake. If you think that's bad though, I've heard that Colorado was considering changing their name to The Colorado Arsenal. Not sure if that is still a consideration or not.

Argentina have a team called Arsenal as well.
Look, if another club wants to be named after something from which crap eminates, let freedom be the crutch of stupidity.

Arsenal Colorado actually. While a clear pander to the Euro-fans, its not completely out there as the site of Dick's Sporting Goods Park (the Rapids new stadium) is on the location of the old Rocky Mountain Arsenal, a former chemical weapons depot. Plus our owner is Stan Kroenke, who owns 12% of Arsenal.
