Cooper writes a blog on the United web site. Here is the latest. Two weeks to go, it seems like it should be shorter.

I must say that I am really impressed by Mr.Cooper and St.Louis United. This franchise has the makings of being the next Toronto F.C.

The team would be years away from hitting the pitch and already has the word out in the community. I like that he appears passionate about the sport and is keeping his fans in tune with what is going on. If all MLS owners did what Mr. Cooper is doing, the league would be super awesome.

If I didn't live in L.A., I would be a fan. Actually, I already am a fan, just too far to get tickets. I'll be sure to see them play at the HDC though.

Saint Louis Soccer United has just issued a new press release with the details of the proposal on their website.

Hey the GCSC endorses this plan as well. We should be on the list. Other than that it looks great. I think this is done and done.

Man, to see the city of Collinsville working so hard with Cooper is the best thing about this. A lot of times you see developers begging cities to listen to them. Not so here. Ole, ole ole ole.

I totally agree. Passionate owners (i.e. Cuban with Mavs) creates a lot of excitement and makes for a win-win situation for both the owner and the fans -- its a business venture, but it can be fun, too. There seems to be a TON of potential for MLS in St. Louis -- I hope things work out!

I wonder if Jeff Cooper has an account with BigSoccer?

The only thing that bothers me is that this all seems to be going too smoothly.

But then, that's just the way I am.

I wonder if Jeff Cooper has an account with BigSoccer?

Of course he does......where do think he gets all his good ideas?

It's a good read. I'll be curious to see if Garber will be there on Monday night and what will happen if we get city approval.

I would love it if Garber were there, but I can't imagine he will be. I don't think he wants to be second fiddle at Jeff Cooper's show.

Has anyone heard anything about a possibility of Garber coming?

If Garber is there I will crap my pants, then proceed to beg for an immediate announcement following a yes vote. Let's hope he doesn't show up.....no one wants to see that.

Cooper has mentinoned he wants to give MLS a call on Tuesday if we get a yes vote, so I imagine no one from MLS will be there. That doesn't surprise me....the city council meeting isn't exactly a spectacle to behold.

Quote from MLS president Mark Abbott:

“Major League Soccer is pleased with the positive vote from the Collinsville City Council to build a soccer-specific stadium and mixed-use development in the city,” said MLS President Mark Abbott. “Collinsville joins a long line of communities that have partnered with MLS clubs to build world-class stadiums and soccer complexes.

“The metropolitan St. Louis area is one of the most passionate and storied soccer markets in the United States. Tonight’s vote is a very positive step and we look forward to continuing our discussions to bring a Major League Soccer club to the area.”

If you haven't read the new blog entry from Jeff Cooper it is here:

http://www.stlouissoccerunited.com/content/view/71/73/

It seems at the end that they are asking for email addresses. I wonder if MLS is using this as a barometer of level of support in St. Louis? Either way, sign up if you haven't and add your friends.

Cooper was also on 1380 yesterday talking to Bernie and Randy. Discribed the awarding of a team as a slam dunk and said MLS is just crossing the t's and dotting the i's right now. Sounded very confident. No team name yet.

Sorry if this has already been posted.

I really wish I could have heard this interview....

As much as I want to be extremely excited and supportive, it worries me that he's saying this stuff ahead of time. Just me being paranoid about being too cocky and getting ahead of the situation. Perhaps I'm thinking to much into it, anyone else worried about jinxing our chances? :(

On the other hand if it's going as well as stated and we'll hear back from them very soon as we've been hearing, maybe it won't be the dreaded 60-90. Although if we started to count down from the first time we heard 60, we'd be much closer now. :)

Considering how well and judiciously Cooper has handled EVERYTHING thus far, I am not concerned. I really believe this is an indication of how well things are progressing.

I don't think Cooper has promised anything but he is in a bad position publicly. If he doesn't appear confident, then we are worried about that. If he appears too confident, we don't like that. I am just glad we have this to talk about. If we get a team, I think he will be like the Maloofs in Sacramento, just a guy who is connected to his city and team and their fans. That is all I care about.
