Well they kiboshed our first thread because of scantily clad women, and just as we get a little action on this one- voila! they do it again.
Okay feel free to discuss your personal lives, music, religion, tv babes, soccer, the Connecticut Wolves and how they affect your lives, fried chicken, music that I like, Travel, movie babes, other threads, the game around the world, and our previous attempts at this thread.
Oh, keep your attitudes some where else, we may not be politically correct.

Ever had a perfect day? Well today was a near-perfect day for the Wolves, as we struggled on the field, but were amazing off the field. It doesn't normally happen like this - normally our team plays great, and no one sees it - but today, I'm pretty sure the game was secondary to most of the kids there today.

Wolves Rough Outing
07/17/2002
New Britain ˆ Cordt Weinstein‚s two goals and assist lead the Long Island Rough Riders to a 5-1 win over the Connecticut Wolves before a season-high crowd of 5,422 at New Britain‚s Veterans Stadium.
In the 10th minute Long Island opened the scoring as Karim Diallo scored a free header off a corner kick from Christer Arnesen. The Wolves came close in the 18th minute as Carlos Sousa‚s shot was saved by Billy Gatti.
In the 34th minute Weinstein scored his first goal of the match from Diallo, and with that the Wolves were going to be battling an uphill climb. The climb got even more difficult as Wolves defender Mick McDermott was ejected for a tackle from behind and the Wolves would have to battle with ten men.
In the second half the Rough Riders added three more goals from Weinstein, George Haba and Derrick Etienne as the Wolves were stretched as they tried to get some attack going.
In the 84th minute Carlos Rocha scored the Wolves lone goal from the penalty spot as Dean Sewell as fouled on a corner kick.

Rocha named Player of the Week

USL announces Players of the Week
_
TAMPA, FL -- United Soccer Leagues announced the Players of the Week for Week 12 of the USL season, honoring Connecticut‚s Carlos Rocha.
__
The Connecticut Wolves handed the visiting Westchester Flames a 3-0 defeat behind the performance of second-half substitute and D3 Pro League Player of the Week Carlos Rocha. Rocha came into the scoreless match with 23 minutes remaining and promptly tallied two goals and an assist.
_
With the Wolves short a man due to a red card shown to Carlos Sousa in the 76th minute, Rocha opened the scoring in the 79th minute on an assist from Dean Sewell and scored his second of the game in the 89th unassisted. Rocha put the game well out of reach moments later, setting up Jair for the 3-0 lead in the 90th minute.
Eddie Note: This is the first time this season that a Wolves player has been named Player of the Week. Congratulations to Carlos for the honor.

Five thousand four hundred and twenty two - that's a pretty big number, looks bigger than 5,422 - but that's still a big number. I am so proud of the work by the Wolves staff, volunteers, and our game day employees from Park and Rec- what an amazing job. These people are an army that will do whatever it takes to make it work, and come back for more. I can't thank them enough - but thank you for all your help in making today one of the most successful, if not most successful day in Wolves history.
As you know on days like this not everything goes as planned, and for the most part none of the people in the stands will ever know, with that in mind - I'll keep quiet now.
Okay today's game is behind us, and Saturday is the SuperClassico against Western Mass. This will be our first match against the Pioneers since the transfer of Chris Houser, and you know that our boys will be expecting a tough match, but this will have a bit more at stake. With Westchester on our heels, we need a win but Western Mass is on a winning streak, and playing at home. Please feel free to drive the 40 minutes to Ludlow and Howl for your Wolves. This is what the game is all about - rivalries, derbys, and this what the league needs more of. Plan your weekend accordingly, but come out and support the Wolves.
With some 4 hours plus of sleep some days are shorter than others, reminds me of a song by the Smiths, I'm a bit worn out, as is Jon Cantor, my able-bodied assistant who has become a Concessionaire specialist the past couple of months. As some of you know, Jon will be heading to San Diego to study law, we're all going to miss him, but wish him the best of luck, and I'm sure he will remember today as a highlight in his days in the Sports industry.
I have to thank my 13-year old son Jeff, who like the champ he is, woke up at 7AM to go to work today. He was going up and down the pressbox stairs, handling the gopher duties, and then taking care of the scorekeeping - he's great at it. It's a lot of fun when you can take your son to work with you, and share the joys and sorrows of the day - but the best part is he is still a kid and just has fun being around the atmosphere. Plus he keeps me in check when I'm about to lose it.
Lastly, I'd like to thank the fine people at Polar Beverages - I love that Orange Dry. Stop by your local Stop and Shop and grab some Polar, or A W, or RC Cola - let them know you support the Wolves.
As always, thanks for all your help and support. This is not a "thankless job", it's a great job - but only because of all the people who appreciate our work.

Sorry to hear about the loss Eddie but glad to hear the crowd was good and hope they all had enough fun to return for another game.
Mom is still in the hospital. Pacemaker installed yesterday. That was successful but things are not great.

I'm thinking all of the losses of the posts may have initially been accidental, but it was quickly decided to be of benefit.
