I don't think DMB would be a good fit at OT. His weak point is crossing and that's essential for Man U.

I think the best acquisitions out there would be Joaquin--whom Sir Alex has already approached once--or possibly Kaka. Kewell and Quaresma were other good choices but we missed the boat in the whole Ronaldinho saga. Frankly, I'm not as sold on Duff.

I'd like to see Fergie up his pursuit of Joaquin.

From reading these boards and my own opinion I would say- Go HARD for Makaay (if hes not already gone to BM???), keep trying for Joaquin, Alex for Cruizero (questionable), and Joe Cole.

thanks

good thing that the whole Ronaldhino saga is over. Was never really convinced that he could be the "one" for us. anyway: I think the scouts should get busy and find a few low priced gems out there. myabe Djemba (sp?), Howard and Bellion will turn out to be great buys, time will tell. Our scouts in the last few years have been turing up Rio, Veron, etc. Well, I could have told them about them and charged a lot less. No more pricey players please, just some hardworking and skillfull guys that'll bleed red.

i dont think we should go after joaquin. even before he said he didnt want to come to old trafford i didnt like the kid.. he just seems like a really cocky, selfish player. and his father/agent is a jerk as well.. if you ask me he's exactly the type of player we dont want playing for united.

Duff - he's one of the most underrated player in these boards, it seems

Thuram - we need an experienced guy at the back, and he's the best experienced defender that still has a good 2-3 yearsin the tank

Makaay or Diego (Santos) - Soembody to play Ronaldinho's role. Duff isn't great here (he played there for Ireland in a friendly vs. Norway and wasn't amazing). Duff is the man to go on the right of midfield (as he is well capable of doing)

We should not blow our wad at one time. Buy up some players that will add depth, but have a little egos. Then if there is a need, buy somebody during the winter transfer window.

At this point, I think Thuram is a bit too old (although undeniably great), he'd be more of a short term rental. As I suggested somewhere else, VanBuyten/Mexes/Boumsong, Joaquin and Makaay together should run you about 40mil. That's how much you have to spend. Getting two of the above would work quite well. Its certainly not unreasonable either, especially since it looks like Makaay will be leaving Depor for sure, whatever his final destination. Plus, Betis isn't a rich club - offer them enough, and they'll take it.

Fergie was asked about Dyer in a press conference and just started laughing, he said something to the effect of "who decided to hit me with that one?"

`I am disappointed but not overly so,' said the United boss, who also laughed off suggestions that a move for Newcastle's Kieren Dyer was now imminent.

VanBuyten, Joaquin, and Makaay would do just that and so much more.

Van Buyten just signed a contract extension at Marseille, so he's out. Perhaps Mexes and/or Boumsong might be an interesting addition in defense.

Both Joaquin and Makaay would be great buys and we definitely have the money for at least one of the 2, just depends on if they want to fork it out. Kieron Dyer for 20M is ridiculous. That would definitely be an impulse purchase.
