So FDA said Noonan (right leg) did not participate in the final full-field scrimmage yesterday. Anybody know more about this?
I guess if he did everything else, it can't be that bad. He's not even listed on the injury report on MLS so I'll relax for now.

Interesting to finally get some discussion about Dorman. Nicol did seem to indicate that he had gotten run-down in mid-season and implied that, for now, he's kind of shut-out of the new formation.
I'm actually rather discouraged about the new look. It should have paid more dividends now that they've had time to adjust to it. But, I don't see our offense doing any better than before the change. Personally, I'd rather see them go back to Ralston on right, Dorman in middle, Thompson on bench - and then keep the *new* formation available as a mid-game tactical switch option.

I agree with this actually. I was a bit disappointed with Dorman's play as the season progressed, but he still has the potential to add more than Thompson for this game (and it would be a Thompson for Dorman switch since he'd be the one sitting).

If the weather's bad, then I'd much prefer Dorman to Thompson as he plays a more direct style and has a good shot: all it takes is a nasty low shot from outside and Conway could really be caught with his pants down.

We can always hope that Mendes starts for NY...

I dont like Ralston in the middle, it's not that he cant play it, but I dont like having both Thompson and Smith in the lineup at the same time.

I should probably hesitate before posting this, since I disagree with at least two posters with whom I usually agree, but I'm fine with the current formation. Ralston offers much more in the current formation than he did in the much more rigid, predictable previous one. Thompson is improving on schedule, and is at least solid on the right now. Smith is at least capable of doing damage on a good day.
As much as Dorman has contributed, he was not filling the role of attacking mid the way Ralston does. Where Dorman was best was in JL's role, but JL has won the job fair and square. In time, Thompson and Ralston will be able to switch off, adding another dimension.
I think AD is the best candidate for 70' sub (e.g. for Noonan.) The big question is Smith. He needs someone to challenge him for that spot. But Smith does not affect whether Dorman plays.

I think we should just do a straight swap Dorman for Thompson. Dorman played great on the wing last year, can hit a great cross and provides more reliable defense then Wells. It might keep the NYRB outside mid honest and not let him get forward as easy.

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember Dorman playing on the wing early in his Revs career. Why not keep Rally in the middle, who adds a little more creativity and possession than Dorman, and put Andy on the outside instead of Thompson?

Yeah, let's wait for the most important game to try new lineups.

Of course this comment makes me look like an idiot after tonight's game.
And happily so.
