...and there's the bell ending Round 1. Hahnemann pushes forward, but is kept at bay by Hammond's quick jab.
"I believe this is an extremely fair commitment from the club to someone who will be 37 at the end of that contract."
"So I am a little mystified by his recent comments, but of course if he is unhappy I will speak to him. However any further conversations will remain between Marcus and myself."

How much does Marcus make annually from his contract with Reading?

Good question. I don't think the financial terms of the extension he signed in November were ever disclosed. Anyone know?

Rumor only (they're not publicly owned) but he's suppossed to be an average earner, so $1.4m. Just a rumor (and that's based on $28 a week, which is about average starter, maybe a little low (hunt asked for average starter and got a bit more).

Thx. I guess that's as good a guesstimate as any. From what I've heard it doesn't sound like Hahnemann has $ signs in his eyes.

I think that the combination of his age and his shaky start to the season has him worried about his future and just wants to seal up a long term deal ASAP if he can. I don't think he is making noise cause he wants to leave, I think he is trying to stay as long as possible. No EPL team is going to bring in a 35+ goalie on a long term deal, but he may be able to get one out of the club he is with.

That could be the heart of the matter. From what I've read from MH and Coppell, it sounds to me like Marcus settled for a little less than he may have wanted last go around, given the uncertainties of how we would do the first year (his loyalty to the club), and now feels he could use a little leg up $ and time wise (their loyalty to him). I think Coppell's view is that things are still uncertain for Reading's future. Enriching contracts for some players (Doyle, etc) is not as risky financially as for others, because the reality is that if Reading go down, those types of players won't stay with the club. As much as I like him, I don't see clubs standing in line to snatch up MH from the Championship. And being part of the leakiest defense in the Prem is not a great advert.
