View Full Version : United would have thrashed Liverpool yesterday

A lot of you are saying you're happy with the draw yesterday at Anfield, and that you're happy to walk away with one point. Let's be serious, it's just not good enough.
Manchester United are just heating up, and if that's the kind of performance we're going to put in at Anfield, we're going to get thrashed next weekend by United.
Four goals in four straight games for United. Sure, we put seven past Slavia Prague, but what else have we done lately? We only put one past West Ham and barely won out over Sunderland. United would have killed 'Pool yesterday.
What's more, some of our players looked terrible out there yesterday, especially compared with how their United counterparts played this weekend. Adebayor without Van Persie is Batman without Robin. The way Rooney and Tevez are playing makes Adebayor look like Emile Heskey. Or worse. Look at Eboue – diving and generally looking lost. At least United's diving right midfielder scores goals instead of hitting the post. And what's Hleb going to do? Do stepovers until Rio Ferdinand just falls over? Ferdinand > Carragher. Oh, and don't forget, with our wall play, the first free kick Ronaldo earns will go right into the net.
If we can't beat Liverpool when they're down – with Torres and Alonso injured, with their spirit down after losing in the Champions League – then we'll never beat the free-flowing United next week. We can pass, pass, pass all we want, but at some point, we need to make it count for something.
Sure we're top of the table with a game in hand, top our CL group, haven't lost yet, earned a draw with Liverpool at Anfield and could extend our lead this weekend at Emirates, but things aren't looking good. At least there's the Carling Cup to look forward to.

Worst attempt at a reality check ever...dude, you should be banned from supporting any team. Oh yeah and watch out for the falling piano. :)

Sounds like you're ready to switch allegiances IU! :p
But you're right that ManU is very strong these days, and I do wonder how we'll match up against them in the 2 key areas: sticking the ball in the net any which way we can, and not making defensive mistakes that lead to goals against, like yesterday.
But the proof will be in the pudding. I'm not writing us off. We've showed great resilliency this year in keeping our streak going, but we've had relatively easy match-ups... until now.
Come on you YOUNG GUNNERS!

I'm not sure which is funnier: the original post, or the replies to it.

I don't think you went far enough IUfan. :D Next week we will meet the best team on the planet and we may as well give up now. I mean come on we won't compete. ;)

our greatness being what it is, every arsenal player and all managers (men's, women's, reserve) should just walk away from the game today, while we are on top. the younger we are, the more profound a statement we shall make....

You know considering how many chances we couldn't put away and how much possecion we had, I wonder how Arsenal didn't thrash Liverpool. Yeah for the first 20 odd minutes we were shakey, but then we settled down.
On any given day, we can beat anyone we want. We just need to play our game and not get caught up in the school of cheats.

agreed. I wish we were in 18th. Then we would appreciate getting points. A point at Anfield is always a good thing. But as for being top of the league, top of the CL group, kids winning in the CC, it's all trash. completely.;) Oh, and getting out of October with only one major injury and no losses, that's trash as well. A bit over the top don't ya think?

Our defence will hold their attack, something the teams they have played havent had the luxury of. Toure and Gallas are more then capable on holding Rooney and Tevez, Clichy embaressed Ronaldo on more then one occasion and i believe he will again, and Sagna is in good enough form to hold just about anyone. Thats the difference.
