Motherwell boss Terry Butcher has insisted that his promising youngsters will not be sold on the cheap as Bayer Leverkusen were linked with a £1.8m bid for James McFadden.

Reports also suggested that the Scottish Premier League club had rejected a £500,000 offer from Coventry City for the 19-year-old Scotland wide man.

I wonder if Celtic are still tracking him, very classy youngster and he is attracting a lot of interest on the continent.
Could be a bit of a steal if we got in there first.

He's already set up two of Motherwell's three goals this season with excellent crosses from the right side of the penalty area, making easy goal chances.

That Leverkusen bid was nonsense. Apparently they are scouting him, but they have not bid yet. I think they maybe waiting for the deadline to see who else is interested at what price. This is to ensure they aren't paying well over the market price.

I think the Coventry bid was serious. I think this was the one Butcher was referring to when he talked about "not selling on the cheap". And certainly £1/2M would be very cheap for McFadden, who has replicated some of last season's form so far this season, unlike some of the other young Scottish prospects.
