View Full Version : Worst Tackles Ever.

My nomination is Georges Santos on Andy Johnson from the 'Battle Of Bramhall Lane' in 2002.
Johnson had previously given Santos a broken jaw and fractured cheekbone during an accidental collision while playing for Forest. Santos came off the subs bench and was sent off within 90 seconds after a horrific two footed challenge on Johnson.
Patrick Suffo (who came off the bench at the same time) was sent off in the melee after headbutting McInnes. The game was later abandoned after some more Sheffield United players, er, went off 'injured'.
Another nomination is Kevin Muscat on Christoph Dugarry for Austrailia v France.

Not really a tackle... but Jan Wouters' messing up Gascoine's face in retaliation of a nasty tackle was definitely one of his finest moments.

Schumacher on Battiston also deserves a mention:

Haaland is back in training again. Expected to make a comeback soon. Probably before the season begins.

As Keane said in his book "take that you cu*nt, and there's some more for your mate Wetherall if he wants it". Shocking tackle.
I disagree that he is a shadow of his former self. It took him a while to get back into fitness, but he was excellent late on in the season, particularly against Arsenal. I'm sure Keano will be back this season.
Another couple, neither really tackles, Bosnich on Klinsmann, and Fashanu on Mabbutt.

.
nah ,his dodgy knee's make him a shadow of his former self.
He aint the same rampaging midfielder he used to be..He takes a more conservative approach in the games these days...
He was anonymous in the real madrid matches..
he's finished.

I donīt know if this accident count to be a tackle:
Argentinian official goalkeeper in Italy90, Pumpido, suffered a broken leg when a rival striker hitted his leg during the second Argentinian match in that WC.
So, after that painful incident ( Pumpido never played again) became Sergio Goycochea to replace him and end the game, Goycochea was the goalkeeper who became a star of that WC.

what goes around ,comes around. Where to begin. Gascoigne is such a shadow of his former self (and has been for 10 years) thats it's sad. Keano was not at 100% last season, he was never given sufficient time to recover from the surgery and we'll see in September if he's done as THE man in the EPL or not. You know if Keane were English and Gascoigne Irish you would have made the opposite comment

who was that one guy from coventry (?) who essentially got his leg snapped in half by two united players several years back?
that one was accidental, but it was pretty horrible.

Im just saying that Gazza didnt stop playing when he got his cheekbone smased by that hacker jan wouters.
He was willing to play with a face mask rather than wait for his injury to heal.
never said anything about his current situation.
Lets see what keane does this year...
even he admits he might be a cripple when he quits football due to his knee's..

It was his own team mate Olarticochea who accidently fell on him.
