Anyone know if those ugly football markings will be removed for the second leg of the play-offs Nov 3rd against the Red Bulls?

I wouldn't think so. Are they easy to remove from an artificial surface? It would be nice though and by nice i mean really really nice.

I'd almost bet on it.

It dosent matter if they are easy to remove, it would require someone upstairs giving a sh*t, and that situation dosent currently exist.

Are they really easy to remove? do they paint the lines on or use actual colored field turf... all the turf ive seen has built in lines, so the whole field would have to be returfed from my understanding. I think they just paint the lines for the revs (yellow.) Id imagen they have a whole built in turf for the Pats and then just paint the relatively few lines for the soccer game on that, and remove them once the pats play.

It's not just a question of time or how easy it is to add and remove markings, it is also a question of money. Grounds crews people don't work for free.

One more reason to want our own SSS.

Watching a game is really really confusing. As with the Revs games "they", meaning Denny Crane's grounds crew is probably instructed to make the yellow lines really faint. Is it just me or do Gillette's yellow lines look like a bunch of dogs went onto the field and pissed on it???

If 68k were anticipated for a Revs playoff game you can rest assured that there would be not one gridiron mark on the pitch.

But as Rowdies just said that's why the Revs need their own park!!!

Can we really trust that the same people who won't pay to have these ugly gridiron lines removed for an important play-off game ''turning customers away in the process'' would like to invest in a soccer specific stadium for the Revs.I'm not so sure.

I have three season tickets and have stopped going since September when those markings were put up. I just can't bring myself to go anymore. And watching the game on TV, I find it very much annoying and displeasing.

The markings didn't bother me THAT much in the past, but for some reason, I now find them insulting. So much that, after six years of being a season ticket holder, I'm seriously thinking of not renewing again. For next year I'll probably buy single-game tickets only to pre-September games, before the markings are put up again.

You know what?..you're right.

But, in the long run you have to look at it this way. Other than MLS telling Kraft, "Look you either get this team their own stadium or we'll take the franchise away"...which I don't see that happening in the near term, I can see other teams, who've had to build stadiums and new teams coming in, needing a stadium plan, blah blah blah...eventually MLS is going to have to push a little harder.

I can't look into the minds of Denny Crane and his son...so I don't know what long term plan they have. Some of us here do realize that the Revs play second fiddle to his main moneymaker..actually who wouldn't do that? But, his continual disrespect for the team and its fans has to come to blows sooner or later.

Sure, to some fans its downright disgusting that the Revs, come September, have to play the beautiful game with all the confusing scribbles on the field. At least when there was real grass growing the lines would fade and cutting would almost eliminate the grids. However, there are plenty of fans that don't care about the lines because they enjoy the other team as well. And with the increase in attendance, the lines on the field is the last thing on most people's minds..both those that are in the FO and the ones who pay to watch the games.

So, now instead of the Pay Shalrie sign in the corner..maybe a Clean the Pitch for Revs Games could be hung????? Just a thought!! and see what happens!!! I'd bet that security will come over and make them take it down!

I feel your pain. The reason i asked the question is because i will not attend the game if those lines are not removed.

But at least it's free, although in your case it's not,is it.

Long term, however, a SSS makes sense, even to the Krafts. SSS make money. The Krafts, I would think, know a thing or two about putting together deals that make money.

It just takes time to create the proper mix of political and economic incentives to make a SSS happen. The Revs will probably be the last of the existing MLS clubs to get a SSS.

I'll take that bet.
The Stadium has taken up the lines before (LA game) and with the Pats schedule there is no reason not to take them up for this game and the ECC against the Fire. :p

So when can we expect to know weather this is happening or not?

Except being too cheap. I think the lines will stay, they took them up before LA solely for the "Beckham" factor. They have no incentive to do it now.

Don't worry, unless you happen to get FSC or go to the game, you won't have to worry about seeing those markings. It's amazing that they televise most of the games during the regular season but do not bother with the playoffs. :(

i agree. i remember they took them off for the playoff game against the fire last year, so why not now?
