This is the original 2005 Squad:
Pablo Estífer Armero, América - This guy has been developing slowly developing but has been a key player as of late. I haven't seen him play much but I've read many good things about him. They have him as one best young talents Colombia. Haydexx might be able to give a bttter description about him. He plays left back.

José Harrison Otalvaro, América - Currently hurt but he has skills to be in Europe. He already had a taste of Europe while being on trial in Russia. The guy is #10 of American when he is back healthy.

Edwin Valencia, Atlético-PR - This guy is the real deal. He has already establish himself as fan favorite in Brazil. I see this guy in Europe within the next year.

Abel Aguilar Udinese/xerez fc - He was suppost to be the future CM of Udinese but it hasn't happen yet. The good news is that maybe Udinese will recall him back in the near future or playing in Spain 2nd might bring forth a possible transfer to first division team. The guy was a hell of player with Dept. Cali.

Cristian Zapata, Udinese - This guy is absolutely a stud. What can I say?

Freddy Guarín, ASSE - He was on track to start this year but has gotten off track this season. There some possible rumors that he will be heading to a bigger club in Europe (Liverpool , Atletico Mardid). Very talented player who has one hell of a shot. All he needs is someone to give him that opportunity to shine.

Libis Arenas,Unión Deportiva Mérida/Central Español de Uruguay - To me this guy is the "BEST PROSPECT" at Goalie. He has been sold to this second divsion team in Spain and on loaned to Central Español from uruguay. I hate to see him go this route. He would have been better off going to a major Club in Colombia but Envigado is known for selling everything they can to anyone.

Cristian Marrugo, Santa Fe - This guy is an excellent player. He was the main reason why Aldo Ramirez was transfer to Nacional because Santa Fe wanted Marugo. It's just too bad he plays for a team that is doing so bad in the local tournament. There has been some rumors of Marugo possibly going to Europe. There was interest from a Spanish first division team.

Campo Elías Santacruz, Independiente Medellín - Who??.... I try doing a search on this guy but nothing.. I don't think he is playing Futbol anymore...

Jairo Suárez, Independiente Santa Fe - Relatively unknown by people in this foru but I have seen him played plenty of times on GOLTV. I really like this guy and I even forgot him. This guy plays RB and is a monster. He is not like Zuñiga who has a more attractive futbol but this guy does everything right. His only down fall playing for Santa Fe. This guy should be consider to play for NT now. He can run up and down the whole pitch like a beast. He plays in Bogota so he would make alot of sense.

Carlos Toja, Independiente Santa Fe/ Dallas FC - He failed at River Plate and now on loaned to Dallas FC. He has emerged as one of MLS brightest stars. He is on loaned with an option to buy but hopefully he will get a better offer to go somewhere else. This guy has NT writen all over him.

Fabian Díaz, IReal Cartagena - I don't know anything other than he plays for R.Cartagena.

Elkin José Granados, Deportes Tolima - Bench player....

Óscar Briceño, Millos - This guy was a player for Tolima. He has been lost ever since arrving at Millos. He hasn't really gotten a chance. I think he is Ok player..

Mauricio Casierra, Once Caldas - This guy is deadly on left side. He had his chance to play in Argentina already but team decided nto to buy him. He did start several game in Argentina and scored. He and Dayro are the main reason why Once Caldas is playing well this year.

Darío Moreno, Once Caldas - He has the talent to go to Europe. The guy is having a great season. Only downside is his attitude which is why Atlético-PR return him to Colombia. Hopefully he has learned from his past mistake.

Hugo Rodallega, Necaxa - The player people loved to bash because he has really sunked low. The guy does have talent but need to get his confidence back. He was label as the savior of Rayados and later labeled a bust afterwards, which I think affected his confidence. I think he is now slowly gettign his confidence back. THe goal he socred on the free kick this past sunday was sick.

Sebastián Hernández, Deportivo Cali - This guy was close to going to Argentina but it transfer at the last moment did not happen. He is very talented midfielder. He was starter for Millos at an early age. He is finally getting his chance to play for Dept. Cali. He scored yesterday and an assist. He definitely has potential to go far.

Daniel Machacón, Atletico Huila - He used to belong Atletico Junior. He is a CM and is not a bad one. I think he is an ok player as of now with room to grow. He is a starter on Huila team.

Wason rentería, FC Porto/RC Strasbourg - We all know about his qualities. He will be an excellent Striker for years to come.

Carlos Valdez, America - He is center back. He was starting CB back when Real made it to finals. He is now the starting CB for America. He is doing very well. He scored on yesterday match.

Harrison Morales, Deportes Quindio - He is a starter. I think he plays LB. I don't know too much about him.

Camilo Zuñiga: Monster of RB. Fifa made the comparison to R.Carlos.

Radamel Falcao Garcia, River Plate - A super star in the making.

Players like:

Pedro Tavima, America- ???? I think he might be in America...

Humberto Mendoza, Nacional - He has improved a lot. He will likely be leaving Colombia soon.

Armando Carrillo, Dept. Cali - Good striker who has been injured a lot recently. He has potential to be very good. I could see him playing in Argentina in the future.

Arizala, ??: Striker who already got a chance to play in Argentina. I'm not sure if he is back in Colombia or in Argentina.

Are part of this genration but I'm not sure if they were on the roster for South American Sub-20 but I know they were for Toulon.

Interesting read. Hopefully players with all this potential will not waste it and find a way to make it into Europe and bring our NT much success.

Good post Minus. I still remember that game in Holland vs Argentina in the quarters of the under-20 WC. Tied 1-1 the referee adds 3 minutes of extra time, and then Messi scores in the 94th minute. It was dissapointing because Colombia's team had a more athletic team and I think they could have done really good in extra time. I guess we were unlucky to have to face the best team in the quarters, we should have faced them in the finals because I think we could have easily beaten anyone else.

But enough about crying over the past, I'm really looking forward to what this new generation is going to bring to us down the road. I hope Aguilar regains his form and that Falcao continues to rip it. We've got a lot of potential, the trick is not to misuse this great talent.

Thanks Minus!

Just think - if only Johnny Acosta hadn't gotten hurt, another terrific talent this generation had at the U17 level...
