Royals at home against Newcastle. Great time for a good performance.

Indeed, victory for the home side would give Reading exactly the same amount of points from their first 11 games as last season, when they went on to finish eighth and narrowly miss out on Europe.

Coppell was aware of that statistic but insisted it held little value.

He said: It's true but it doesn't give me a great deal of comfort. It doesn't help me or mean anything because this is a different season.

I know people are saying that to try to make me feel better but for this part of the season up to Christmas it is just about accumulating as many points as you can, wherever you can.

That is the only way I look at it.

I don't feel good about this one...but we'll see, I guess.

Hahnemann, Murty, Sonko, Duberry, Shorey, Lita, Gunnarsson, Harper, Hunt, Doyle, Kitson

Subs: Federici, Ingimarsson, Convey, Rosenior, Long

I was wondering when he'd do this.

I'm guessing it will probably be Doyle on the wing and not Lita. No Bikey or Fae at all.

Come on Reading.

It has begun.

Decent start.

Doyle looks good so far. Set up a brilliant chance for Lita, but Lita f'ed it up.

And now Owen nearly scores. Marcus ran into him, and no call.

Lita blew an easy one......should have finished it...no excuse unless he thought about it too much...lol

interesting lineup....no Ivar for the 2nd straight week, Fae not even dressed....is his time at Reading done? I heard Bikey looked horrible in the reserve game so no surprise.

In some ways, I like this 4-4-2 because we can go to a 4-3-3 with Lita, Kits and Doyle up top. If we do that, we will either score a lot or concede a lot

BTW: Is Hunt reached the "untouchable" level with Coppell? He hasn't done much offensively this year and yet, he continues to get the start week in, week out. Of course, another way to look at it is that we have no one else to play that position.

Fortunately, we've created some shot opportunities in the box...unfortunately, Lita is taking them and he's making things look hard.

Anyone out there .....wouldn't you be happy with a draw today given the lineup and how we continue to play "confused" as to what our identity is?

Yea, I'd be happy with a draw. Although we should be winning. Lita....

HT? Yes. HT. 0-0. Doyle and Sonko have been great, Lita...

Halftime...nil to nil (should be Reading with two goals due to Lita's inability to put the ball in the back of the net)

Lita's missed two sitters.......did he pull a muscle getting out of bed again?

Wouldn't surprise me.

Convey for Lita? Probably have to wait a bit to do it.

We've been the better side. Hunt surprisingly played fairly well and had that one excellent cross. Doyle might be our new winger. Lita needs to take some shooting, ball handling, and skill lessons. Only question that remains is how long Long stays on the bench before Coppell grows tired of Lita's pedestrian approach.

Would love to see Convey for Gunnar (Gunnar's 45 minutes are up) and then Long for Lita and then go with a 4-3-3 .....that is, if we think we can win. Otherwise, play for a point at home given our play as of late.

with the way this season has been, I started thinking that the equaliser would be scored in the next 1-3 minutes
