I was just about to mention this myself.

I very happy that MLS made the decision to let Parky into the GoTY nominations. Dichio's goal is also in there, so there are actually 2 goals for week 29.

Now we just need the FO to send e-mails out to everyone telling them to vote for Parkhurst

Sounds about right for MLS - just change the rules when they feel like it. Just like they will do to let Donovan stay in LA.

I am happy for Parkhurst though because that goal should definitely be up for a GOTY.

I forgot about Twellman's goal, but would you say his goal against DC was better? The one where he chested it to himself and then blasted it past Perkins? I think MLS should just put up anything and everything, allow us to narrow it down piece by piece until we have a handful, leave voting open until right before MLS Cup and then reveal it with the rest of the season awards.

I LOVE the fact that MLS added extra goals for voting...not just Parky's. Notice wks 7,11,25 all have 2 goals to vote on. But only Parky's matters anyway! GO REVS!

They basically did with a heavy suggestion that included a link to the voting page. :o
From the center circle newsletter:
Revolution central defender Michael Parkhurst's only career goal - a 60-yard wonder strike last Saturday in Toronto that ESPN has awarded the "MLS Goal of the Year" - is among the 34 candidates for Major League Soccer's 2007 Sierra Mist Goal of the Year.

The League released the nominees on Thursday as fan voting opened at MLSnet.com. Parkhurst's goal - which came on the first very first shot of his career - is joined on the list by a pair of Taylor Twellman goals.

In first-half stoppage time on Saturday, Oct. 20, Parkhurst intercepted a Toronto pass in the midfield. From several yards behind the midfield line, Parkhurst launched the long-range shot that beat Toronto keeper Kenny Stamatopoulos on a line, giving New England a 1-0 lead.

Parky's goal what the #4 "Best Damn Play" for the month of October on The Best Damn Sports Show. I doubt any of the other MLS goals can claim such a distinction.

If you don't know, it's a sports talkshow on FSN that has been on for quite some time.

I vote everyday. As does my "husband" Mr. Barky von Schnauzer. I've got the spare email address, I might as well use it. :o

obviously we arent the only ones to think about this, and judging by the amount of interest this thread has gotten vs. the massive amount of ballot stuffing weve seen other teams fans engage in, i doubt Parkhurst will make it much further than the first round.

THAT would be a disgrace on our part as HIS fans!
Keep VOTING!
