Thanks guys for your concern! All our computers, TV etc were down from Sunday till this morning. We live a few miles from the centre of Malibu where the fire was concentrated, and fortunately for us, the fierce winds didn't turn in our direction.
It's been a bit nervewracking, but the fire is just about out in our area, altho' terrible further down the coast and inland, with about 2000 homes lost, and half a million people evacuated.
The problem is always the Santa Ana winds that kick up every year about this time, and there's always a few arsonists who set some (not all) of these blazes. The Malibu fire started with a downed power line. Anyway, al's well at the moment. Thanks again.

Leslie when i left Woodland hills. I went to live in a place called Poway 30 miles from San Diego from memory. I still have friends in the area, it looks as though its really badly hit. Is it that bad in Poway Escondido? or are we just seeing the worst areas.

Hi Scout; According to the San Diego papers, there were some homes lost in Northern Poway and Lake Hodges. I don't know any other details at present, tho'. The winds have dropped significantly, and with any luck, the fires should start to come under control in the next couple of days. Let's hope so!
