Damn, where are you all today, dear VfB fans? :D

And I wasn't around because my laptop broke.

Since it broke and I couldn't stream the game, I thus didn't get to watch the match so i'm not gonna comment on invidivual performances. My friends in the stadium back in Stuggi told me that the side played badly and not up-to-par with their recent performances and that, in this respect, we deserved to lose.

Aparently the first goal was a big error.

I'm very dissappointed with the result, we have been on great form lately, BVB have been poor, and i was about 90% certain that we'd win this game. So it's a big letdown. With HSV losing, we could've moved to within 5 points of the top 3 and stayed level with Schalke, but it wasn't to be today. This result is a setback, and I hope it won't put the side back in a decline towards the form they had 5-6 weeks ago. Let's hope it doesn't.

Congratulations to the BVB fans. NExt week we have another homegame, against Wolfsburg, and we just have to make sure that we're back on form for that one, and can win the last 2 matches of 2007! That's the goal.

Regarding need to buy defenders:
In leftback we have:
Magnin and Boka. Magnin started poorly but has been improving in recent games. Boka has been largely injured but when he returns he'll be solid as well. No need for reinforcements there.

Central defense:
Delpierre and Meira were voted 2nd and 3rd best defenders in the Bundesliga last season, after Bordon. There's no need to replace either, and it's clear Delpierre will be a bit rusty after a 5 month break, just give him time, he's an excellent defender, as is an on-form Meira. Tasci has been slightly poor this season, but he's also a very promising player and will only get better in the next few seasons I think. Then Pischorn and Pisot got their respective debuts this season, so we have youth in the background who may get some future chances. Gledson has been a waste of money, but that's all.

Rightback:
Osorio and Beck and Tasci. Osorio is a very solid defender and is reliable. Beck has been very good this season, only reason he didn't play yesterday was due to injury. He has a bright future. Tasci can also play rightback convincingly.

So, my conclusion:
We don't need more defenders, we just need to let our defenders return to form, perhaps the winter break will be perfect for that. However, there are rumours Meira may be going to Juventus, though I doubt it after his mediocre season so far. If this is the case,we have been linked to Krygiakos from Frankfurt, who is a very good defender, and would be a solid replacement for sure. Beck arguably wanted to consider leaving since he felt he hadn't gotten enough chances from Veh. Now he's getting his chances, so i'm confident he'll change his mind and commit himself to VfB :)

I think your friends who were at the stadium are letting their disappointment rule their version of what actually happened. Sure, we started out with a better effort and we came back again in the last 15 minutes of the match, but between that, in my opinion, it was nearly all VfB. They were just unlucky in a few cases and Weidenfeller made some big saves.

Yes, huge error by Schaefer. He fumbled a cross that bounced up, hit Delpierre and rolled over the goal line.

But even with that, Schaefer made some big saves for you guys later........

Nice to see you here, @ schwabe 13! :)

You lucky boy with 2 championship titles within 1 season...;)

Thank you, I'm with Dynamo a ST holder from the first second on, plus a proud member of the supporters group Texian Army (http://www.texianarmy.org/ )

Last Friday we had an Texian Army appreciation party and I spoke to Dynamo Reserve player Mike Chabala. He will join VfB Stuttgart in January 08 and train with them for 3 weeks http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s225/schwabe13/Mezz11-29-07MikeChabala.jpg

He is the guy holding up the Dynamo jersey .

The old fart in the very old VfB Suedmilch jersey , wearing a VfB Meiser 07 scarf, that would be me !!

Gomez out for the last two games :(

Tomorrow we must get 3 points against Wolfsburg, nothing else is satisfactory!

Nope, I hope, that Mike didn't win the 3 weeks of VfB training in the VfB x-mas raffle ...

Just kidding, he is a cool guy, and anybody, who plays for the Dynamo has great Fussball skills ! Don't underestimate the USA, I see a certain development here .

Where did I say that I underestimate the MLS? Of course I know that there's a certain development, a few very interesting talents and decent players (even though they still have to learn a lot from the European football).

Correct. MLS is improving, but still has a long way to go. But it won't be long before we see more players from MLS in the Bundesliga and yes, in Stuttgart!

I think some may be scared off by the language differences, but players like Sanneh, Cherundolo and now Heath Pearce should be able get more young Americans looking at the Bundesliga and the working relationship between the DFL and MLS should get more BL clubs such as Stuttgart looking at more Americans.

We lead 1-0 :) - Marica with the goal.

To be honest we aren't playing too well, but its important that we got that lead, no hopefullly we'll be able to double it at some point and won't have to be nervous.

...and Wolfsburg get a goal back almost immediately.

We can't allow ourselves to fall asleep like that, lets hope the boys don't throw another one away!

Now Cacau had to get subbed out because of injury :(

That's bad, with Gomez already injured for the last game. Hopefully Cacau's ok, but we'll see.

And Boka is brought on for him... a defensive substitution. It looks like I might have to be biting my nails for the next 30 minutes. A goal right about now would be brilliant.

And we finally get the decider...3 - 1 through the Hammer in the 86th minute!

i was pretty nervous here, the last 15-20 minutes, but now it's clear: 3 more points coming our way!

And lot's of the other results are going in our favour as well!

That's terrible :(

So he'll miss the entire winter break and perhaps the beginning of the second half of the season. I didn't think it would be that bad.

That's a blow. How should we play in attack next week then, with Gomez injured aswell?

Marica will obviously start, and personally i'd rther we play with a 5-man midfield then instead of starting Ewerthon.

Not wanting to be harsh, but yeah, he's been absolutely shit so far. I don't think he's played a single good game for us besides against Cottbus. A big dissappointment up until now.

Of course there's still half a season left to play so we'll see how he does after christmas, I hope he does well, but so far it doesn't look like we'll be using our option to buy him at the end of the year.
