Incredible poor defending! Simply can't believe how bad this team has become after that great last season...
4 games, 4 defeats - that's a real shame for a champion and for the whole German football (sorry for my harsh words)!

It's a fair assessment from a non-VfB supporter, and I think most VfB supporters would very much agree with you. We've shown last season that we can play compact at the back and attack with a flowing style, but it's not there this season for whatever reason. As far as I'm concerned, Saison Titelverteidiger is over...it's time to get back to basics and forget about last season.
Almost forgot one thing...what a better way to get some confidence than a victory in this weekends Suedgipfel against ScheissBayern. If we can find our form again in this match, I have hope for the rest of the season.

It's a shame the german champion represent Germany like this... nothing against Stuttgart though, if it was Bayern I would say the same.. Shame:mad:

Can't argue with anyone here.
Strangely enough, I actually think we were playing better yesterday than we were say, two weeks ago, and even in the Nuernberg game. A bad defense cost us, but that's life.
We've got a much more important game coming up this weekend, i'm just hoping for a draw against Bayern to be honest, I don't think we're in a position to outplay them right now like we did in the VfB-Bayern game last season.
But I do believe we're slowly getting back on the right track, and I still think if we find our form we could be in about 6-8th place by the winter break if all goes well, and that would still put us in a spot to challenge for the European places after winter.

I say we should go for the victory against Bayern. The worst thing we could do is to play defensively. We have to fight and attack as soon as possible and don't give them any room. Once the Bayern engine gets rollin, we won't have much of a chance.

But the Bayern engine has drawn three games in a row, the last two at home to mediocre opposition. Their present little dip gives me some hope, but we'll see what happens. Either way, Frankfurt and Bolton picked up points from defending, and I fear if we attack too much and go for the win, we may not even get a single point.
Once a team is as good as Bayern, there's nothing they prefer than to see an opposition try to take them on and actually outplay them, which is very hard to do.
But we'll see, any points in any case against ScheissBayern and i'm happy :)

Of course I'd be happy with a draw against Bayern, but given our recent record at defending, I just don't see how that would give us a chance. If our back line would have been rock solid recently, that might have been an option.
I'm not saying that we should go for an all out attack, but we shouldn't let the Bayern players have any fun playing us.

Yeah I see your point, obviously I agree we shouldn't be camped out just outside our own box for 90 minutes haha.

In a somewhat suprising (to me at least) move, Tasci has been called up to die Nationalmannschaft for the last two Euro 2008 qualifiers against Cyprus and Wales. I'm not really sure what he has done this season to deserve a call-up, but hopefully it gives him some confidence and he starts playing better.
Hilbert, Hitzlsperger and Gomez are also in the squad.

Surprised to hear Hilbert is in the squad considering he's still out injured for us.
As for Tasci, Loew obviously hasn't seen him enough since his great form last year. I'm not really concerned about his dip in form this season, but I think he should be benched for some games atleast until he recovers his form. which he obviously will do eventually, he's massively talented for his age, and showed it last year.
