Stuttgart Resigned To Losing Top Striker Gomez (http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=reu-germanystuttgart&prov=reuters&type=lgns)

But not immediately, right?? :o

Yes, not immediately.

Saying he'll leave at some point before 2012 is not like saying he's gone this summer. I think he'll stay with the club for another year - just my guess.

@panicfc
And Gomez is already now too good for Lazio, as for Bayern, I couldn't see him ever going there even if they wanted him. I'm certain Stuttgart will be the only German club he will have played for before moving abroad - just like Hildebrand. Except, I think Gomez can get into an ever bigger side than Valencia.

all this talk is making me feel bad about next season......But then again...with that kind of money we could bring in some young Talent from Contries like Argentina Brazil or Mexico...the Last Mexican Investment was a huge success....

The last Brazilian investments were all screw ups (Ewerthon, Gledson, Elson...), and the last Argentinian player we had (Centurion) was also a major flop.

I still think Gomez will be around next season.

Ok scratch the South Americans.....they seem to do bad at VfB....So should we get more Mexicans....lol how bout another Defender....i hear Efrain Juares was let go by Barcelona and he is now in Pumas....NOT playing in their big team....hes got Skills but he never got exposure so nobody has seen him play in the last few years....but he won the U-17 WC....

There should be plenty of Americans available once the EPL season ends and 6-8 of them are on relegated teams. There are a couple of talents that would be worth just as much as the Mexican players we currently have.

Well that's more a reflection of our bad luck with our choices from Brazil and Argentina, than the quality of the leagues.

Agreed.

I'd still rather have someone from Brazil than someone from MLS tho :)

Don't forget guys, Cottbus away tonight!

Meira and Khedira are still lightly injured, and Cacau is suspended, other than that everyone's up for selection.

Let's get the three points and pass ScheissKSC

Halftime, we're up 1-0. Meira of all people with the goal.

Gomez has 'back problems' and is missing the game. Radu is therefore starting his first ever game for us, in an all-Romanian striker lineup for us.

Well, approx. 20 minutes to play. Still 1-0 for us, we aren't really playing well and we're doing little to finish off the game. Then again, Cottbus are incredibly weak and they've done nothing so far to show that they'll score a goal.

They fight hard, lots of yellow cards, play really rough, but at the end of the day they are a pretty low-level side with little quality. Playing them is tough, but once you're in the lead against them, it's unlikely that you'll lose it. If we keep our heads down and concentrate for the last 20 minutes, we'll have the win.

And we win!

1-0.

Ugly match, not a good performance, but we did our job and took the points!

6th in the league now, ahead of KSC, right behind Schalke. Things don't look too bad now, but we're gonna have to play better if we wanna take something from Bochum on the weekend.

I'll give a bigger summary later.

Important away win against your "amici" from the Lausitz.

Just 1 point away from Schalke now ... so all is possible again!

I read the news about Super Mario. I don't think he will leave within the next 12 months Stuttgart. Whatever he does in his life, I wish him good luck . ( hope, that he does NOT consider Bayern  )

About the level of the MLS: it certainly is getting better here. (I'm a season ticket holder for Houston Dynamo from the first second) And in case you ask how I know the difference: I had 7 yrs ST for VfB, so I'm able to compare the Bundesliga and MLS!

Probably the mods don't like to see, what direction this thread is going, but I'll answere your question:

The top three MLS teams, probaly Houston Dynamo, DC Unted and the Rev's could keep up with teams from place 8 - 18 in the BL. Here they are not far away from the top leagues ( it probably will take 3-5 yrs to be a top league )
We have also a salary cap of 2.4 - 2.5 million dollars per team / per year.

That is peanuts, compared to one top player in Europe.

The mods in here are easy going, so don't worry. This is a civilized forum ;)

True, that's just enough to get 1 month of Luca Toni's services...

Good post.

Couple of thoughts =

Top 2 could keep up with 10-18 for half a season> The lack of depth would kill them as they have tops 15 real players, and then a 11 kids who aren't up to it.

Revs - no way, they'd get broken down and their talentless game would get crushed by Cottbus.

;)
