And 1-0 now with 9 minutes left. Pathetic, and I so saw this coming the minute I heard Middendorp was no longer coach.

We're a man down now, Veh's been sent to the stands for complaining, and I really don't see any way we'll come back.

So the hope of going into the break on a high is over.

And now Osorio has been sent off. ********ing great.

On the bright side we scored last year away to Bielefeld with 9 men on the field so perhaps there's hope for the last 2 minutes. I'm just kidding really. There's no hope for an equalizer and the side has played like shit today.

How have our players lost the plot so badly? So many yellow cards and 2 players sent off...and Veh in the stands...unbelievable. It's almost surreal for this to happen.

2-0. What a nightmare way to end what has been a great year :(

Not too dampen the mood even more, but Magnin has also injured ligaments in the ankle...in the next few days they will find out about how long he will be out, but at least until the new year.

In other news, Radu will come on loan from Wolfsburg for the second half of the season with an option to buy in June. Apparently, we're going for an all-Romanian attack.

Wow, thanks, this is the first place I hear that news!

i've kept myself away from all football-related sites in the last 10 hours or so since we lost. I was quite pissed off.

Radu arriving makes me feel a bit better. I rate him quite highly, though he obviously hasn't been too strong at Wolfsburg it seems. I don't know if it will really help our attack much though. Gomez will be back after the new year, Cacau will return eventually, Marica is improving and will cetainly continue to do so over the break and Ewerthon is already good for backup. So i'm surprised that we now get another striker.

Unless one of our attackers is moving away this winter? Can't se that happening, none of them have been rumoured to leave. so, yeah, it puzzles me a bit, though i'm not dissappointed to hear it!

Btw. A lot of people are blaming the ref. for our loss, there were many controversial decisions.

EDIT:
Here are some of the exact mistakes:
- Foul on Marica in the penalty box - penalty not given.
- Foul on Ewerthon in the penalty box - penalty not given.
- Pardo's redcard undeserved, he got it for a completely normal duel.
- 1-0 shouldn't have been given, a clear foul on Osorio leading up to the goal was not acknowledged by the ref.

In short, and i've had time to calm down now so this isn't my frustration speaking, we were robbed - of not just 1 point, but probably of all 3.

You said it all practically :)

although I will add that Hinkel was fairly mediocre in the last 1.5 years before he moved away from us, so adding that to the Sevilla time and it's really been 3 years since he's played consistently very well. But he undoubtedly had/has talent and, in the right place, I think he could still be a very good asset to the squad.

He's a very solid player with the potential to be a great defender, but you'll need to work hard to get it all out of him.

It has to be added though, that Hinkel has Alves on his position in Sevilla, one of the most highly regarded right backs right now, so it's not surprising that he didn't play a lot.

VfBStuttgartFan: I think you guys will be very happy with Radu. I think it was mostly politics that kept him on the bench at Wolfsburg.

Remember, he and Munteanu were not bought by Magath. They were bought by the previous regime just before Magath took over.

I think the only players who were already there Magath did not intend to purge were Marcelinho (playmaker), Thiam (veteran leader) and Dejagah (signed by the previous regime, but too good of a young talent to purge)

I think Radu will score the goals you expected from Ewerthon.

Or push Ewerthon to finally perform.......

even more transfer news...

According to kicker, Gledson is going back to Hansa Rostock. I believe it is a permanent deal, but I had heard a few weeks before that it would be a loan.

Michael Langer is making a switch to SC Freiburg. This means Sven Ulreich will move into the first team in his place. I'm not sure if he will be 2nd behind Schaefer or 3rd behind Alexander Stolz.

We have also tied up 3 youngsters with profi contracts: David Pisot until 2009 and Marco Pischorn and Julian Schuster until 2010.

In other news...Magnin will be out about 4 weeks and will travel to the Dubai training camp. Osorio has a 3 game suspension for the red card and will be first available against ScheissKSC.

It's best for everyone that Gledson goes back to Rostock... that was one transfer that was just horribly wrong in the way it turned out. But I wish him the best of luck.

Same goes for Langer, I wish him the best in Freiburg.

Well, some hard times right now, but hopefully we're making some moves to help turn things into a good 2nd half of the season. Now, we just have to get healthy over the break and have people stop picking up red cards.

Merry Christmas everybody!

@Giovanni
We got ********ed over. that's for sure. But we should be used to it, no other side in Germany has ever been so regularly screwed over by refs over the years as we have, besides perhaps whoever was playing Dynamo Berlin in the 80s. And it doesn't excuse what was a pathetic performance from our side.

The match against Schalke i'm already very worried about even with a month's break. Magnin may be missing, Tasci will be suspended, Osorio will be suspended, Pardo will be suspended, Basturk will be injured again(this is just a prediction ;) ), Cacau will be missing. Ugh.

do you have any proof for that bold statement?

Vfbstuttgartfan
21 Dec 2007, 07:31 PM
no, i don't have proof for that bold statement, but it is what I think, and I can't come up with anz other side who have been so heavilz disadvantaged by referees in the Bundesliga. Not on purpose, obviously, but disadvantaged nonetheless.

A situation that sums my feelings up perfectly well is when 2 weeks ago Cacau was fouled in the penalty box, and the referee decided not to give a penalty. Cacau in the meanwhile tore EVERY MUSCLE in his shoulder and is now out for 2-3 months. That, for me, was nothing more than typical.

In Every league there is allways one club not to liked by the rest...and in the Bundesliga i think its us....:(
