I'm heading over for the Liverpool and Manchester United games and was trying to find a hostel near Arsenal. Anyone have suggestions? We'll be coming back from Manchester to Euston station the morning of the game.
Thanks,
Ken

Ken,
What is your price range? I think the St.Christopher's Chain has a hostel near Camden Town. There are a number of affordable B&B options in and around North London, as well.
The YHA St. Pancras (http://www.hostelz.com/hostel/29506-YHA-London-St-Pancras-Hostel) gets decent reviews i think.
I'll be over for the ManU game, as well, and I'm crashing at the Europa Hotel (http://www.europahotellondon.co.uk/) near Tufnell Park and they show doubles/twins for about 50GBP.
Other cheap hotel/b&b options nearby, though I can't vouch for them, include the Krystal's Guest House (http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/hotels/krystals.html) on Holloway Road near Archway, Michael's Guest House (http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/a43999.html) in Kentish Town.
You can also try the travelstay (http://www.travelstay.com/) site. It's searchable and contains a lot of hostels.
Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I was actually looking at the St. Christopher's Camden. The only one I found that looks closer, Hostel Rio, is minimum 7 night stay which won't work for me.
No real set price range though trying to keep costs down while not staying in a dump.

As Frank knows, surfcam and I stayed at the Europa last season. It is an excellent value. Look no further, IMO. Its a bit of a walk (20-30 mins) to Blackstock Road and the tube line there is a bit inconvenient, but I will stay there again next time I go over, for sure.

i guess depending on your age / nightlife activities staying near the stadium is kind of boring to be honest. it's really just a proper neighborhood and local bars. i would try and stay in camden town.

Upper st,10 minutes from the ground has dozens of pubs ,clubs & restaurants a much wider choice than Camden town
Camden town is full of people with dogs on strings

As I mentioned, I'm staying at the Europa again, and this is after searching for a better deal. Many excellent reviews on tripadvisor.com, super-friendly staff, they even lent me a converter so i could charge my ipod, phone and camera batteries. All the rooms are en-suite, full breakfast is included, and they do not charge your card prior to checkout. Although it is a bit of a walk to the tube station, 2 blocks away in 2 different directions are buses that will get you to Finsbury Park or King's Cross/Euston in a matter of a few minutes. If I recall, the #4 bus will get you to Finsbury Park in about 10 minutes and one of those stops is near the Tavern.
To get a better idea of the bus services available, you can download bus maps for Camden, including Tufnell Park, here (http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/gettingaround/maps/buses/?borough=CDN). The stop on Dalmeny Road is 2 blocks from the Europa and goes directly to Finsbury Park. The Tufnell Park map is here (http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/gettingaround/maps/buses/pdf/tufnellpark-10905.pdf) (caution: pdf file)
